Oblivion looks rubbish in HDR i think, everyone looks like they have a readybrek glow to them, it looks better turned off imo.

hdr is a gpu effect,all monitors work with it.

hdr is grayed out for me ( ati x800xl) can only select the bloom effect.

Just finished 1 hour of Oblivion. Have reached outside - cranked all the sliders to the right

And it runs like a snail

Very beautiful. The interaction between objects reminds me of Ultima Underworld 1 and 2 a bit. The graphics are indeed lush. I'm laughing at Daggerfall now (which BS released 10 years ago). The rats still haven't changed!

This evening I'm gonna watch the Making Of DVD.

I'm just off to Tesco to do food shopping so had to stop for now.

Up to level 3 with my character, which is a custom class I've made specialising in blunt, blade, heavy armour and destruction amoungst others.

So far I've visited Anvil, Kvach, Skingrad and Chorral and just been generally exploring.

I've done a couple of side quests and am joining the mages guild

Think I'll probably be playing most of the evening!!

Right, i've gone from having a mild interest in this game since I first read about it several months ago, to being desperate to get hold of a copy to play it

I'm off to Luton tomorrow until Sunday. What are my chances of finding a copy still on the shelf down there?

Would like the collectors edition, but I'm not too fussed

A very good chance I'd say, at least for the PC. When I went into the game store in Hammersmith last week to preorder it, there were 8 preorders for the 360 version, and a grand total of none for the PC....

Happy so far! played for around 5 hours straight, been a while since Ive done that.

It runs good at 1024x756 (or whatever that resolution was)

My computer is:

Athlon 64 3500+ (2.2GHZ)
X800GTO2 Overclocked
2gb GeIL value

the load times are fine, and Ive not yet noticed any pauses while its loading on the fly (Although I have noticed you sometimes catch up with the land while its loading when your running on a horse.)

Anyone know where you buy more lock picks?
I need to break into the armours and get some decent light armour. And I might have a snack or two, I am now a vampire

I'm staying right next to the Arndale centre which has 2 Game stores (just checked)

I'll snap up the CE if I see it, and I'll be sure to update this thread with screens etc when I get it up and running.

Erm, you open it up and look at the components inside, dont think anyone else can really tell you your own specs.
