An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

Ive noticed the trick to lockpicking, let me see if I can explain it.

If you tap the things up a few times you will notice that it will fall fast then slow, then fast then slow and so on.

Now when you try and lock it in place when it falls fast your just not going to do it, but if you try it when it falls slow you will crack it easy, this is why I can pick Very Hard locks with jack all skill in lock picking.

Pretty shallow really :(

Not sure if I explained it good there but what the hell :P

The important thing is to listen out for the sound it makes, when it is going to fall slowly it will make a very subtle double "tink" sound instead of the regular single "tink"...hope that helps a bit more. Once I realised this I started to build up a nice supply of picks without needing to buy them :)

Can you get a faster skill level up the more amour you have?

Say you have half heavy armour and the other half light then will you level up in both amour classes the same?.
If so, does it matter how much of one type of armour you have, could you have all heavy armour and just light armour bracers and get bonuses for both? Or does having just one piece of light armour make your skill go up very slowly.

Cheers.

I remember reading in the hints that show up when areas are loading that you only gain skill points if your hit in an area where the armour covers. For example, if your hit in the chest and you have heavy armour there, your heavy armour skill should increase. Likewise, if you only have light armour on your feet, then that would only increase when you get hit there. Of course, i could have just. Of couse, it could just be my imagination going into overdrive again :p

My security level is like 9 LOL. The tumblers are pretty fast, but lucky i'm almost 75 level with illusion (with enchanted items) so i can use the open hard lock spell ;)

found a way of recharging magical items without paying for them :)
i was just about to sell some Varla Stones when the loading screen popped up saying "Finding rare Varla Stones means they can be used to restore energy in your magical items" bonus :D

I FOUND THE UMBRA SWORD :D:D:D:D

hahaha i can't believe where it is, right under your nose the whole time... the battle to get it is insane!

don't even bother trying it if you either
a) don't have a crap load of health potions
b) aren't very skilled in magicka
c) aren't skilled in blade/fighting of any kind...

will post screenies in a few, just saving up and turning off AA :D

might be spoilers, so highlight to see

you can buy horses from stables etc... but they tend to be quite expensive depending on what types they are, you also get given a horse in a quest (a Shadowmare)...

try going back the next night with a bounty (i.e. having commited a crime)

What's the enchantment on it? It isn't something crap is it? :p

Soul Trap for 120 seconds on strike... it doesn't have a HUGE charge rate either, so you dont get too many strikes with it :-/

i'm not sure if there is supposed to be a quest to get the sword because i was told "i've now got the umbra sword" and given the usual "continue/make this my active quest" dialogue... i just decided to stop doing quests and do some exploring in places that i'd found but not bothered to go in.

about the 4th or 5th place i visited... was this place, and Umbra was standing in the middle of a room moaning about how her sword needed a sacrafice etc...
i quick saved, decided to attack her... and have just spent the last hour or so trying to beat her :o

Or you can get one for free after speaking to Jaufree from his buddy downstairs (i.e. you can get this right after getting out of the sewers)

I'm struggling with the lock picking too! I've got serious lag - cant work it out, the game play is generally okay.

I generally find the mouse to be dire in the lockpicking screen. I don't know if this is a consequence of it being a re-hash of a console interface, and I wouldn't call it laggy (mouse clicks are as responsive as can be expected), but trying to steer the cursor/lockpick around is inprecise at best.

I am using an MX 518 FYI.
