An Elder Scrolls: Oblivion thead

"Lifting the Vale"

If anyone's after a nice quest to do and don't mind the cold, I can heartily recommend going and talking to Countess Carvain in Bruma Castle about getting a certain item for her collection.

It goes down as one of my more memorable quests :)

I want to be a vamp, well just to try it on one of my saves.

Anyone know any vamp camps?

Kill random peasant - go to sleep - follow that quest line through for vamp (about 6/7 missions in all) ;)
I still got a save pre-vamp somewhere but never gone back - its cureable but forgotten who to talk to - tis a personal quest now :D
Bit too used to the 48 hr wait without "sorting" my vampirism and the masses of extra str and aga I get from it :)
Theres a vendor along the same quest line that sells chameleon gear too (uber stealth) :D

Annoying problem.

I went to Cheydl or something like that, a city on the east.

Theres a black horse stable, you speak to a lady on the front of the house and she says to speak to the chap inside so I do, but I need to pick the lock to get in? Odd for a shop to be locked.

Anyway when I try and exit it requires me to pick the lock again, then I get arrested by the guards.

I'm stuck, if I don't pick the lock what can I do? Stand in the house for eternity?

I had that happen although the second time I went there I am sure it was unlocked.

I just find my mouse doesn't respond fast enough to slide across to the next tumbler! I find it quite laggy.

Notice no answer to this one so I thought i'd explain. Its in the manual but u obviously not looked rather than not having one... :p

Basically "bounce" each tumbler and watch how long it takes to be fully compressed (you get used the noise it makes and how soon its fully pushed up) as its fully pushed up you need to click to lock it in place as it gets all the way up. Then the next one - any you fail will snap the lockpick AND usually make tumblers you already done fall back down. As odd as it sounds it seems to be easier to do the ends first then work towards the middle.

It might have been locked because it was night time. Just wait until 9am or so, and it should open itself.

I was playing oblivion earlier today and it crashed so i had to restart, now when i go to load a game i get this error message:

Im not happy to say the least  Has anyone any ideas?

Wish i had a registered copy of FRAPs last night had to kill someone for the DB, lets just say she high tailed it when she had little health left, so equip bow and give chase, by now she was a far distance away so, pressed block to bring up zoom and aimed high and to the right of the direction she was running and let loose, 6 seconds later the arrow connected with a sutiable thunk to her head....dead, had me grining like a cheshire cat. :D

Similar (testing new graphics) from the lighthouse in Anvil - got the guard by the dock gate from the top of the lighthouse :) Methinks my draw distance has improved slightly!

OK so i went to this cave near the lake after i read those 4 books and got the clues.

Got it and had all my stuff taken off me, get to the worship place nick the blade and the book and peg it.

Got to the ruler temple and given it to them. Should i have at any time been able to get my stuff back?

Or is that a part when we all just have to start again?

Not bothered with cloud ruler temple missions yet (getting built up before finishing game) but can you not strip before heading for the cave?

I generally wear the DB shroud armour and have a spare set as a result of Lucien Lachances mission.
Have backup weapon and spare elven shield from same mission.
Anyone know a good area to find glass armour? Would love a good armour set to stack with Chameleon gloves I got (cant wear gloves and shroud :()

Don't you think chameleon stuff is handy but irritating, I can't stand not being able to see your own hands properly! As for the glass armour, I think all bandits probably end up dropping it depending on your level!

Acolyte, can you make that the same colour as the forum background and put a spolier warning there please? I haven't done that bit, and I don't want it to be spoiled.

One of the people there would have been carrying it all. You should have cleaned the place out.
