BGC2040 is one of my most watched anime series :)
it's quite good with some really good humour (especially on the english track where you can really pick up on the tones etc)

Hillary Haag is great as Nene:)

I really enjoyed Voices, but wish they'd made a sequel.
I've got a synposis from the book it was based on that tells a bit about what happened later and would love to see it animated :)

Yea, its pretty nice. But, in some scenes it really does fall down with the characters looking over exposed and the colours being almost totally washed out.

Yup, a very well done OVA. Its even more amazing that it was done by one bloke on a G4 Mac! Impressive stuff

Own it, i picked it up originally as i heard it was more or less made completle by one guy and i was like WOW must check out. I really enjoyed the story nice dark depressing undertone to it.

Tis a good show enjoyed it a lot, but i found it lost it towards the end of it. Think i'm more of a fan of the original, but not by much. I watch Bubblegum Crash before i watched any of the others so my veiw may be tainted coz of that. That said imuch prefer the New Remake of A.D. Police doesn't senter arround the sex thing which ruined it for me in the orriginal.

It cost a bit more than usual, what can i say "i'm obsessed?" I'll let you know when the first part of my orders be dispatched.

don't cry, we've all done something like placed a stupidly large order at one point or another ;)


/has memories of April /may 2003 when he ended up having 32 discs arrive in about 2 weeks (whilst decorating....)


Have you looked at the argos and ikea ranges of DVD storage?
Ikea have some rather nice looking glass fronted units for £19 each (hold about 58 DVD's), and Argos have some "bulk" units pretty cheap.
I'm aiming to pick up a couple of the Ikea display units* and sit them on custom unit's i'm going to have a go at making in the near future (I've worked out I should be able to store about 450 DVD's in the space i'm currently using for about 180)


*for my Paul Champaigne metal boxes (i've got the Eva, Gasaraki, BGC2040 official ones, and the Macross unofficial one) and favoured "normal" boxes
 
:o fortuantly my bedroom can only hose so many thing i.e. bed, computer desk, wardrobe full of Anime DVD's and a tiny space for cloths at the top. i got some under bed storage boxes things witch i've alread managed to fill one and 1/4 :o

its not only space thata problem but also my anime craze once they get hear i'm in heaven Weeeeee "what to watch, what to watch, what to watch arrrrrrrrrrrrgh.
But i have a plan to get more space for storage, kill parents and sister then that will make some extra space for the rest of this year >) mwahahahaha. na i'm hoping to move out if can this year, but have to see how things go :(
Well i also got another anime related hoby his yea as well, my mission is to help the fledgling anime fan deap with in my cossin >))

One part of my order has been shiped to day by International Priority Air Mail, so well see when it comes.

had to go to the po depot to collect it
******* CUSTOMS PUT A £8 SUMMAT charge on it:mad:
so the cost of the package was £31.42+customs £8+
delivery of about £5 in the price


ME NOT HAPPY:(
have been ordering from dvd boxoffice for YEARS and NEVER had a package stopped by customs
FIRST order from dvd pacific and WHAM charge
well i know who i wont be ordering from again:(

aint even opened the discs yet

I used to use DVDboxoffice a lot, but moved to DVDPacific as it was an average of about £3-5 per disc cheaper (on standard discs), but knowing they had the chance of customs when at the time DVDBoxoffice didn't.


Unfortunately DVDboxoffice have the same sort of chance for customs if the order/disc is over £18 as most retailers now (they mark their packages much more clearly these days than they used to*).
The only possible difference is that I think DVDboxoffice orders enter the U.K. from Europe, and might not be checked as often as stuff that arrives direct the U.S. (but it should still pass through Mount Unpleasent).

The only way to reliably avoid customs charges is to always try and place orders that fall under the £18 mark (in DVDPacific's case placing them and making sure you select the "Hold till complete (this order ONLY should be sent as submitted now when all items are available)" option.



Can I ask what was in the package?



*looking back to 2003 DVDBoxoffice didn't tend to mark the values on their orders, my few orders from them in 2004 all had the value clearly marked (as is required by law).

I'm afraid thats the biggest issue with being an Anime fan in the UK. I've been ordering from the US for 10 years now and always found the customs charges to be hit and miss. Packages i thought that would get charged don't and packages that should have been ok have been charged.

Just wanted to say thanks to the people who suggested Samurai Champloo. Never thought I'd find any other anime I'd like as much as Cowboy Bebop!:)

To all those people ordering GITS:Innocence: If you look hard enough it might still be playing in a cinema near you (I saw it back in November and that was a festival showing). I know it didn't get a wide release but I can honestly say it's such a beautiful movie that it's worth making the extra effort to catch it on the big screen!:)
 
FAO Kodiak and anyone else who might be interested in Tachikoma's.

I was reading the www.macrossworld.com forums, and one of the guys there is apparently doing a "garage" kit Tachikoma model (1/18th), it's expensive ($70us+) but looks fairly nice, apparently it's posable and the guy behind it might do a more detailed version if it does reasonably well.

Thanks for that but, i was kinda still expecting Custom charges. Been ordering fromt he US for 4 years now. and DVD Pacific is cheaper than my original source so depending on how the orders i have at the moment go with them will depend how it goes.
Its odd coz i've had orders that are over $300 get to me wih no customs at all but a $30 order get customs Meh.

WereWolf All the large orders i've placed that come straight to me without customs have come Priority air mail and i assume from Europe. they were coming in those hesian sack things.

hope my order starts arriving soon i've run out of new stuff to watch :eek: and i need my fix for the month. Ont he bright side i got my crest of the stars and bannder of the stars 1&2 manga and Geneshaft collection over the weekend so hat will keep me going for a few days.
