anime suggestions

I'v been meaning to get maison ikkoku for a while now but need to finish some of the stuff i allready have before i start on new stuff :( I'v got the first volume of Kimba orange road produced about the same time as maison ikkoku i think school romance, super powers, love triangle type thing, its only subbed though. but still enjoyable.

Kimagure Orange Road is one of my favorite series of all time include the OVA and movies. I grow up with it and I love it to death.

what do you mean it's only subbed? you should only watch anime with orignal dialog. dubbed version sux ;)

anyone seen Appleseed yet?

hehehe so true but when your sight is as bad as mind and your reading speed is slow it some times helps to lissen as apose to read ;) Me and Wolfy had a little discussion about Sub's Vs Dub's ealyer.

the new Appleseed isn't out over hear yet and i think its only in cinema no in the USA unless its on sale over in Jap. It's ment to get a release over hear in a few months time though. I'v seen the original though.

BTW who's your Favorite VA?
 
I've seen Appleseed, the visuals are great but the story is really poor and no matter how good a film looks if the story is bad it's not worth bothering with. Casshern anyone?

Élynduil: I liked appleseed but I havent read the original manga.

for the people out there who wish to see the casshern live action movie you really shouldnt...just close your eyes and stay way. that thing gave me nightmares even though I stopped the movie half way and it should win award for having the worst fake fight scene and completely senseless storyline ever

that's the thing I love about voice actors. they may be 34 but they still sounds like young girls :D

my favourite VA's are
Megumi Hayashibara (well she had to feature somewhere*), Rie Tanaka and possibly You Inoue for the Japanese side of things.

With
Hilary Haag, Monica Rial, Kari Wahlgren and Michelle Ruff for the english side of things :)

dubs aren't all bad :)




*if just for the sheer number of things she's done :)
 
Tanaka Rie :cool: not bad she look sexy in real life as well

forgot to mention Shintani Mayumi for been such a cool VA in FLCL's Haruhara Haruko.

on other hand I have no idea about the english VAs.

How many of you are using DVDPasific? i've never used them before and was wondering what your expirences with them are?

There posted i didn't really get though, you pay $0.52 per item and say another $2 for the package. so am i right in thinking that if i had 3 DVD's it would be $2+($0.52*3)= $3.56?

What delivery options do you usually use? 11-20 dayz?

i liked appleseed, cell shading annoyed me though (cos i hate it)

and i loved casshern... especially the fight scenes!

Their shipping works out at something like
$1.99 base shipping + $0.99 per additional item (or weight unit).
So one disc/item = $1.99, if it's counted as two items (due to a second disc or whatever) it's
$1.99 +$0.99 = $2.98

An order for 3 items would be (assuming they are single discs)
$1.99 + $0.99 + $0.99

That is for the SALF which is their cheapest option, and takes between 5 and 20 working days (very erratic), but all their shipping charges work in a similar manner

Have you seen the Last Exile Dub?
It's one of the best I saw over the last year and has some great performances from Michell Ruff (Tatiana and Alvis), Kari Walhgren (Lavie), and Johnny Bosch [ex power ranger:eek:] (Claus).

I loved the way Michelle Ruff did alvis, and Kari did a great Lavie.

The Haibane Renmie dub was also extremely good imo if you haven't heard it :)

Ah thanks think i get it now. I take it you normally use SALF?
I take it you've not had any problems with them? and i guess you order everything in seperate iems to avoide customs?

I finished Volume 7 last weekend, I didn't know that Tatiana and Alvis were played by the same VA untill i read it on AOD a few months back, i was quiet pleasently surprised but the difference in charactor shown. Johnny Bosch ex power ranger trying to think which one he is but drawing a blank will have to google for him late and see which on it is.

Haibane Renmie is a great little show love it, the dub was good also i felt i could connect with the charactors, though thats not hard for me in general.

Bangers : the cell shading is whats disapointing me in the new appleased. (only seen the trailor though).
 
yup, I normally use SALF with the "do not combine" option ticked so no chances of customs (normal disks work out at about £11-15).
I only use the combine option for items that are going to be over the customs limit anyway (which is pretty rare).

The only problem, if you can call it that is the odd variations in how long the cheapest shipping option takes, i've had some items arrive in about 4 days, whilst others have taken about 20-25 :)

I've only been using DVDpacific for about a year, but have never had a problem and have been very pleased with their customer service :)
My main regret about them, is that i didn't start using them earlier as it would have saved me a small fortune :)
 
I thought the new Cell shading is the trendy stuff in 3D at the moment. Deunan look damn sexy in the new Appleseed movie. she gives me fantasies :o

Anyone ever watched "Voices from distant star"? I think that's a really cool OVA. the name is also sexy too
