Same here, all prepared to buy a 7800XT and then this happens.... HmmOh god no, this is all I need.

Get in touch with CS and ask them if they can refund the difference, if not then you can return it and buy at the new priceLol @Gibbo you could have said the 7900xt pulse was getting a drop to £700. I bought two days ago at £750 thinking that was the deal. It went back to £800 and within a day down to £700. Gotta love it.
Yep, I'm going and bet on some fine wine for the 7800XT, see what happens, it might look quite a bit better come Black Friday, I don't think anyone who bought a 6800XT or 6900 or 6950XT prior to launch made a mistake either far from it, but to me, the card is here now though and i'm not spending roughly the same amount on old tech. It makes no sense at this point.
That’s why I said at the higher end as all those cards should have enough basic raster performance and thats when the additional features and RT come into play.RT doesn't outweigh raster performance imo. RT is a feature you turn on/off - it is a nice to have. You still need a card with basic grunt to power through games. You can play games fine without RT. PS. Not disagreeing with you that RT is superior on Nvidia cards.
i was just writing a post moaning (this is just the thread, after all) that the 7900XT had gone up to 800 quid... then i saw comments above saying its down to 700. logged into OCUK, add to cart... i just cant do it. Closed all chrome tabs. Remembered id just spent twice that on a holiday that was all over in a week and was a right chore with the kids whinging etc... went back in, nope... i still cant i cant spend £700 on a GPU. I'm not feeling excited... i just dont want to spend the money.
I'll run with what ive got, until i can no longer do what i want. After all the time ive spent researching, with reviews and stuff, it all feels like a waste, but it is what it is.
With no new cards from Nvidia and AMD until possibly 2025, this thread has a loooong way to go. .Holy S*** this thread! Struggling to keep up with it now
i quite fancy trying starfield, but its not like anything ive played before, so i might not like it. Plus, it'll run like ass on my CPU anyway. so the GPU is a waste. Otherwise, i play COD, i get plenty good performance in that, more frames wont make me any better at it (sadly).Yup had it in my cart as well. I cant do it either, my brain just wont allow me to pay £700 on a graphics card.
But I really do need one, so the 7800XT it will have to be!
I've never called it fine wine tbh. I just called it as it was, like another guy when we spoke about it the other day. IE - much smaller driver department who take a while to make the card perform as it really should. Fine wine indicates the core actually improves with age. It does not, the drivers do. And it's not by magic, it is by much lower budgets.
That is all fine, so long as it translates into price. And with AMD it usually does so it's all good.

Up at £800 now.
Up at £800 now.
This constant price yo yo is frankly bloody stupid. I appreciate that the price of items fluctuates due to a variety of factors, but multiple times within a day?
They need to stop messing about. If I was in the market for a card it would put me off shopping here.
Probably not by much. Not sure if this been asked already but will the 6800Xt drop in price when the 7800XT is in stock?
I thought that would be the case. quick question I'm ordering a new GPU tomorrow and not sure what to go for, I'm a nightmare making my mind up lol, Either a RTX 4070 for £589 or 6800XT for £539 or 6950XT for £609?? what you think?Probably not by much.

I'd love to see the 6800Xt go down to around £450 but that's just wishful thinking lol, what you think the sweet spot price wise the 6800XT should be?I'd echo this. The 6800 XT is a bit faster for a bit more money. People keep asking where the card is that slots between the 7800 XT and 7900 XT. The 6800 XT seems to be it. I can't see the price reducing on them drastically and that wasn't the case at the other well-known retailer who had stock of the 7800 XT.
