Assuming the 7700XT is gonna cost way more than the 25% expected performance difference over the 6750XT I picked up last month...

The best value has always been in last gen. You avoid all of the new thing taxes.
weird, cause there is a massive price gap between the 7600 and 7700 and again between 7800 and 7900
7600 to 7700 is the worst, you have to pay almost double to move from a 7600 to 7700 - $249 vs $449
And MLID says the 4060ti is going to get a price cut, so now Nvidia cards will slot into that gap which isn't great for amd
Well, the 6800 has been around £430 for a while, the 7700XT will cost about the same with a little more performance and newer features but less VRam.
12gb on 1440p is absolutely fine for now. Had no problems with my 6700XT in that regard.
I am still of the "there is such a thing as too much vram for a certain spec of card".
I would say it is an issue for ones costing over £600. I think for cards such as the RTX4070 12GB it is less of an issue, although more VRAM is useful.
That's sort of my plan now, stay one gen behind. Still have pretty current hardware, avoid a lot of the FOMO tax and bugs. That's the theory anywayThe best value has always been in last gen. You avoid all of the new thing taxes.

Think i'll be getting the 7800XT, probably Sapphire as usually the better AMD partner. Will see how benchmarks look next week but should be a decent upgrade from my 3060Ti which i only got for the NVENC Encoder.
Funny that i have been testing my 5800X3D x264 encoder recently and for streaming with Fast preset @8000kbps it looks better than NVENC.. Hope Twitch adapt AV1 sooner than later, might be sooner since YT added HEVC for streaming and already do AV1.
Nvidia must price high because they think everybody is a streamer and have to pay for AV1 privilege
I think we all know by now the 7700XT will not hold its price for long and likely settle around £370IMO its basically this for $450 or if you want more VRam its $50 more and we'll throw in a few more CU's for good measure......
MLID says there will be an unofficial price drop for the RTX4060TI 16GB to match the RX7700XT 12GB. The problem is that the latter will come bundled with Starfield Premium for the next few weeks and the RTX4060TI comes only with a Overwatch 2 Battlepass.
Also many people forget the RTX4060TI is PCI-E 8X card,so on older PCI-E 3.0 systems there is a slightly performance drop. The AMD cards have a full speed PCI-E data link.
If Nvidia wanted to make a proper move they would replace the RTX4060TI 8GB with the RTX4060TI 16GB. They did this when the R9 380 4GB released, and the GTX960 2GB essentially replaced the GTX960 4GB.
I do wonder if Nvidia will bundle Phantom Liberty with some cards? I am surprised they don't bundle the Cyberpunk 2077 and Phantom Liberty bundle for their more expensive cards! Dropping the price of the RTX4070 12GB and including the full game might be enough to counter the RX7800XT.

My second PC is running a Powercolor RedDevil 5700XT and a Samsung G9 Oled and it cant do 5120x1440 @240hz I used to won a Sapphire 6800XT im sure that could do. So question is how much better would a 7700Xt or 7800XT be compared to the old 6800XT. Im not prepared to go much above £400 though.
Care to share your thoughts on why as I've been toying with the idea of buying one of those even now, what with how disappointing the 7800XT has seemingly turned out.Pleased I didn't bite on on 6800/900/950Xt now.
