I drink every day. Usually it's a few beers and a dram or two. Though there are plenty of blowouts, fair few cans, bottle of vodka, wine, etc.

Am I dependent? Unsure. I function fine without drink, I just like the stuff.

Over the past few months I've found myself going through about 4 cans on most weeknights, and I have started to get a bit concerned about it.

I'm making an effort to stop drinking during the week, and I did well last week but on Monday and last night I went through another 4 pack each night. Not good; I just enjoy chilling out in the evening playing games, watching films, browsing the net, etc. with a beer.

Surely 4 cans a night is going to make you pretty podgy pretty quickly right? That's like 1000kcals. :\

:edit: I guess you're likely to be slightly less hungry due to consuming cals through drink, but surely not to the tune of 1000kcals?

I haven't had alcohol for over 10 years now, so can safely say im not dependant on it :)

I can see why some people like to unwind with a drink after a stressful day, or use it as an excuse to go out over the weekend, but for me, personally, I don't really like the taste of it.

I can actually pinpoint the very day I became depended on alcohol due to a thread I made on here many years ago,

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=17637307

It's interesting having it logged, you can see how it all began, the simple act of being stressed in work leading to just 1 tin of beer a night, sounds perfectly innocent, but when I look back at that thread I think even then I must have known I was going down a bad path, the thread was just blatantly asking for peoples permission to drink so I could excuse myself.

My advice is if you feel your becoming depended on alcohol no matter how little you drink then listen to yourself, you are having those feelings for a reason, don't ignore them.

Did it expand from 1 can a day to more?

That does sound like quite a lot, I'd drink every day if it were of no consequence but that can't be ideal!

As Zefan said, surely drinking every day is a good way to get... chubby? :o

Never really drink myself into a stupor, but on a night out at the weekend I'll drink maybe the equivalent of around 6-8 pints over the course of the night. While I'm aware this counts as binge-drinking I think/hope it isn't overly excessive.

I very rarely touch a drop of alcohol during the week.

Meh. I enjoy it, and I'm not a big fatty. Also, I have liver tests every month or so to make sure my liver is fine because of the medication I have to take. It's totally fine. :)

Used to drink most days but now only on a Friday, sat and sunday. Probably 6 bottles of wine between me and the wife over those 3 days.
