Anyone flashed there Vario II to wm 6?

Easiest way by far to backup contacts is simply sync the device with Outlook using ActiveSync 4.5.

With regards to an offical WM6 Vario II ROM, The official HTC forum in Norway has confirmed that HTC will release an WM6 update for TyTn. If you want a T-Mobile WM6 ROM, then you might as well forget it. Look how old the current ROM on your Vario II is!

WM6 Black 2.0 is a cooked ROM. What that means is that the author has obtained an early release version of WM6 and customised it.

I still havent managed to get the phone to work as a modem for emergencies!

Also how do i find out what rom im using as ive forgotten?

As there may be a better rom to upgrade to now:D

Check your ROM version in Settings>System>Device Info

In WM6 they changed the DUN to Internet sharing which works seamlessly for me. I get good speeds ~ 800 kbps in my area (Brum to Wolves) with HSDPA (H icons shows on my phone when downloading packets) using my phone as a modem.

Also confirm that TomTom6 works very well with WM6, I'm using v6.03 of TomTom with the *.1219 UK only maps (so far the best for me)

The latest cooked Roms are based on the RTM version of WM6 whereas the early were based around betas. The word is that an official WM6 ROM should appear from HTC by the end of April but we'll see.

I'm using the Black 2.0 pro ROM but will update to Custels ROM as that is cleaner.

if i got to the about bit it says windows mobile 5 with the messaging and security feature pack nothing about a rom??

OS 5.1.461(build 15671.3.3.0)

But i do have the internet sharing option?

How do i configure that as a modem for the handset then? do you know?

Cheers

Just done mine to WM6 Black 2.5 or something, was easier than I thought it would be. Still hasn't fixed the problem where I turn the screen back on and it's in portrait mode even with the keyboard shut.

Yup!

I found the magnet on the case caused the problem. Stuck the handset in another non-magnetic case and it worked fine.

Try using the handset without a case for a day or 2 and see what happens.

Nah, still running the HTC 2.11 ROM. Given me absolutely zero problems so I'm reluctant to change to be honest.

When HTC officially release a WM6 ROM I'll flash my Vario II again. To many cooked ROM's floating about for me to choose from.

Forgot about this thread! :o

BoomAM: Supposed to be this month but no sign of it yet.

Gavin: Did you get that problem sorted out?

I recently caved in and went to WM6 with Black Dymond 3.5. Was experiencing the missing SD Card bug where I'd take some photo's, save them only to go back and view to discover nothing there. WM6 appears to have solved the issue for me thankfully.

WM6 is a nice upgrade to WM5. Office Mobile compatability with Office 2007, SD Card Encryption, HTML email, integration with Windows Live and more responsive menus and button presses. Its a lot more stable too.

Wouldn't worry about that setting mate. It has zero effect on the rest of the OS. But why on earth would you want to uninstall TCPMP? Its THE video playback software for WM.

If your getting screwed up playback, uninstall TCPMP and reinstall it. Before you play any video file, go to options>video> and select Raw Framebuffer. This ensures perfect playback.

It plays none of my videos at all.
Doesnt recognise my *.rm videos, doesnt play some of my music videos, and my custom encoded stuff doesnt play either.

I havnt reinstalled TCPMP yet, but i remember that the option i was on about was under the ATI Imation area isnt it? (can you check that for me please?).
Which if so is alright, as a tech sheet i found listed the TyTn as having a Quallcomm GPU. :p.
