" at the end

or just press the button to left of the hyperlink button then paste link and click close current tag to the top right of the panel. should work ;)

What cpu are you running and how are you measuring temps (asus probe ?)...that temp seems very low even for a ninja. My x6800 at 2.93 stock idles at around 39/40 in an Akasa Mirage with 3 x Scythe 1200rpm fans.

So if I put the cpu fan on the right side of the ninja it will be be resting slightly on the 1st dimm and the fan will probably be slightly taller then the heatsink as a result. I wonder will the case close properly then ?

Does the plastic scratch easily...looking at one of your pics of the top tray it looks like there is a scratch there already ?

Thanks for the pics.

I'm using Asus probe for the temps as i'm all new to this.. I've used the Asus AI booster and set the overclock to 30% which is the max it will go to. Running at 3017.07 mhz. Must be loads left in the old girl yet.. If someone tells me how to add pics to these posts i'll doa screen shot for you..

Which programs should i be using...

For temps ??
For overclocking ??

And what other programs should i get/use that would benefit me and why??

ta,

for overclocking your bios is your friend ;) in your system you shall see it go pretty damn far

for temps something like motherboard monitor should work, it shows your temps constantly in the system tray. also has a rapid shutdown when something gets way above what it should be, i found out the hard way lol.

The asus Ai booster has clocked it at a switch of a button to 3mhz.... LOL

I've missed having a decent computer.. Stopped playing games about 8 mths ago 'cos my current system chugged.... Then again lasted 3 yrs and i paid 1100 pounds for it... So about the same ofr this one... Ish...

Whitey

yer i had the same, had a system that lasted me 3 years then it felt so good to upgrade to a system that thrashed it so many times over :D .

Copying about 50 gb of music over to this comp.. 19 mins remaing.. Prob could do with a REBOOT....

heheh....

I'l get there eventually... one thing i've found with bulding your own.. They never quite work perfectly despite what people say...

Peeps on here will be giving it. Nah m8.. My comp works perfectly. No hiccups, no stalls, no crashes... Hogwash... (Shame we can't swear. heh) Never quite right...

Whitey

im not saying my system is perfect as i have had problems, well all i can think of is the fact that my no.1 sata slot doesnt work

 B-grade mobo never helps :p .

when you get the chance add me? ;) addy is in trust.

Firstly where is this scratch u talk about??

Here is my temps m8

Nice eh ??

Top case..

One of the high res shots of the mp3 player tray thingy...thought there was a vertical scratch on the plastic surrounding the tray.

Nice temps...29 degrees when overclocked on air to 3.1ghz plus is almost impossible to believe I would say. Think about it ? At stock speeds maybe idling at this. But I have yet to see a Conroe on air even at stock that idles any lower then low 30's. I find probe is wildly unreliable as do a lot of people. It tends to read very low. While Abit (at least on AMD mobos) used be the opposite. I think it's the bios that determines how temps are read so using motherboard monitor or speed fan probalby would not matter. But heh..if it's stable it's fine. Maybe flash with latest bios too.

No. No scratches. Seems very resilient... The tray is hexagonal ish type shape so you prob saw the bend so to speak.

And there is a rubber mat that sits in the bottom...

29 desgress...Pah.... How about 20 degrees...

Taken after about an hour of comp being on.. Fans running normal speed. In fact the temp seems to go up if i turn them all on highh...

Had a look in the bios and the temps are the same there....

Is there a better way of checking temps??

20C is fine with a CPU utilzation of 1% - show us it after 24 hours running at 100%. Try installing 2 threads of folding@home and let that run 24/7. If you can get it running that silently 365 days per year, then you've succeeded in your aim of a trur high performance, silent rig.

i concur, use TAT or coretemp to take your readings. Dunno why people are fascinated by idle temperatures, i'm i missing something or is there some added plus that low idle temps bring that i've missed? :)

Sorry lads, i'm new to all this so i'm just feeling my way around at the mo..

TAT or coretemp... Are these programs??

yes, do a search on the forums and you should find some links. Widely regarded as the most accurate cpu temp readers.

The accuracy of the core temp reading on the mobo depends on how it is configured in the bios. 21 degrees idle is impossible even with 1% cpu utilisation on air, so other apps like TAT or coretemp will be similar I am guessing. You might be better off with some proper thermal probes. Even the base of the heatsink will be hotter then 21 degrees so might give you a more accurate idea of how hot your core is. I have seen this sort of thing time and time again with Asus motherboards. Also with Abit, but usually reading much higher temps.
