Anyone got the Antec 900 yet ?

Yes, the differences can be enormous - on my overclocked E6300 I've got 34C mainboard temp and 35C CPU temp under load after 24 hours. PC Wizard reports the same two temperatures but also 66C and 68C for the two core temperatures. I would suspect that the 66C and 68C are the more realistic numbers. Still, as it won't throttle until at least 85C+ I'm not at all concerned.

Yeah...I tried the same mobo as the OP and got pretty low temps with Asus probe. Since, I have switched to the bad axe and temps are about 12 degrees higher. I suspect this is more realistic. Underload after folding for 24 hours on both cores they seem to settle in the mid 50's. Am happy enough.

I ordered one of these cases the other day it was delivered yesterday and today my new north bridge fan and a few other bits so tonight im doing a full system rebuild, I will take pictures and post them up.

My initial impressions are good, its a lot better than my old case (gives almost no airflow). Doesn't seam to plasticy, the one thing I did think was that the side panel with the window in didn't seam to firm but then this is my first case with a window so this may be standard. I will be a little worried about the fitting of the dvi cables on the top slot as this setup is for sli but hey will see later tonight :)

You should be able to put the SLi video cable on either card - the one not plugged in becomes the non-functioning slave.

be careful with the clear side panel, it scratches easily as i found out.. You wouldn't notice normally but i knwo it's there.... Damn.... My fault.. Must have rested i tthe wrong way around against something when i opened it up for removal and repositioning of the fan.

Whitey

Just got back online after building the new case up, first of all the bad points.

It took a couple of mins to get the floppy bay in correctly (had to get the 5 1/4 holder set back to the right distance). Secondly I found that I could not fit my hard drives into the middle cage and put an extra 120mil fan on the end of it (the cage just isnt big enough for that). Then it was the graphics card, the dvi connectors if the card is in the top slot are slightly to big, with some very careful positioning I was able to get this to fit though im not quite happy with it still. Last of all cable routing is a total nightmare though this is mostly down to my hardware and the fact most of the cabling is going to be replaced soon.

Good points next.

It looks freaking awesome :) the cooling on it is top notch, my old case had practically no airflow at all where as this has air flowing all over the show. Its sturdy when I was screwing in the top drives there was not even a slight hint of twisting or distortion as I applied pressure all on one point. Lots of room inside for large hardware though there isnt much ducting for cable routing.

Whats next?

Next im going to put in a black dvd writer, re do all the internal cabling and put in a uv cathode (cos have dfi board and new uv cables to install), mount 2 more 120 mil fans, then plan for a major mod to put in a lcd screen in and a black front panel with rheostats to control all the fans in the case (if I can get that looking seamless I will be happy) :D

Soz lads.. Been away for a while enjoying the new rig....

U mention the controlling of the fans. How owuld that work becasue with this case each fan has a separate switch for speed so how would you hook them up to be controlled...

Sorry i'm noob..

Whitey

well I just ordered my Antec 900 and Thermaltake Toughpower 750w PSU :D I'll post pics when I receive it

I'm considering one of these to replace my crappy generic case.

How loud are the fans in there? I'd guess the 200mm is almost silent, but what about the others?

I havent got around to doing a fan controler yet but the basic idea is to cut off the current seperate ones and wire them up to variable resistors on a front mounted bay, its something I will ether make myself or may even find premade someplace.

As for the powersupply thats my main problem at the moment the cables are long enough to reach the top optial bay (im using the seasonic s12 600watt psu).

damn thats shame bout the power cables as i have the 430W S12 and was looking to get this case, i've always had doubts about the power cables as i didnt think they would reach. if its anything like the 600W i now know that it wont.

Hmmm.. any info on the case for us? like how loud the fans are? oh and just how far off are the cables from the drives?

It was a little akward because the fan on the bottom of the psu. I had to turn it the other way around so the fan could draw in air. This means that the cables come an extra few inch's making it really hard to make the cabling neat. The cables do reach but bearly.

As for the fans they are really good, on the top speed theres a fair bit of speed but I have them all on the meduim speed and can quite clearly hear my hard drives working over them. I could put them on the low setting and the case stays really cool and would be not far from silent :)

As you can see the cables that come out of the psu are on the other side that they would be so it adds a little more distance for the cables to run, I know the cabling looks really untidy but I havent had time to sort that out plus im thinking about getting a new psu with a modular design etc.

ah yer, i get you. im not to worried now if you say it will reach but slightly, i do have an extension/splitter amung all my cabling. spose i could use that :p looks like it might be getting the go ahead :D

Thinking of buying this but im not sure due to hearing its not very anti-dust. I need a case that has good anti-dust defences, like air filters etc.

Just fit tights to the computer, much better than any fan filter I have ever purchased or has come as stock.

The case definatly doesnt come with any dust filters im afraid the 200mil fan on top would be hard to filter but im sure it would be possible to install :D
