Anyone non-panic buying?

Morocco does paperwork with the EU -> gets access to 27 countries.
Morocco does paperwork with the UK -> gets access to 3 countries.

It isn't difficult math as to where to focus attention.

You said it was 'much harder to trade with us as there is more red tape and costs are higher' - so you need to evidence that.

Suggesting getting access to the UK single market is more difficult than dealing with the EU is just laughable.

Companies that still blame Brexit and Covid for poor service really know there are some gullible fools out there still :D

I never said that at all. I think you're confusing your posters.

All I pointed out was that crappy paperwork to hit 27 markets makes much more sense than crappy paperwork to hit one market.

Its worse with things like roll as people can hoard due to non perish.

I don't think that'll stop some people. I seem to remember at some point during lockdown some woman had made the news because she had bought so much stuff, that most of it went off/mouldy and had to be thrown.

Its not that. There's a lot of paper work for trade.

If you're a country such as morroco are you going to spend your resource dealing with USA? China? EU? UK?

The UK is effort:reward way down on the list.

You fanatics are really that invested that you can’t accept Brexit, for the reasons I and others have said (namely trade barriers) may have made a bad situation worse. Sure it’s weather related but as I’ve said, trade barriers due to Brexit have made things worse.

You can't argue with stupid man, just accept this place has it's fair share of nutters and enjoy laughing at them over a nice cup of coffee (preferably British grown coffee and none of that forin muck...)

Well given that Morocco is our main source of out of season tomatoes since Brexit clearly they are happy to deal with us.

Not to forget we export to Ireland in the summer..

In Feb 21, UK government proudly announces a new trade agreement with Morocco.

In Aug 21, UK government proudly announces that 25% of our tomatoes are now imported from Morocco. A 40% increase.

In Feb 23, we have a national tomato shortage because of a dependence on Morocco.

We are importing from Morocco because we can't get them anywhere else, lol.

So you are saying the UK's ONLY source of tomatoes is Morocco?

The problem isn't only morocco can grow tomatoes, the problem is that morocco is a big tomato producer, the problem is that the UK is next to the EU and the next nearest country that has the climate to grow tomatoes in a large quantity that we need, which isn't like on the far side of the planet which adds to shipping cost, without it perishing being a produce that doesn't last months at sea...that is Morocco. I am sure there are others too in north Africa but Morocco is a big one.

We are limited by our sources, we sure can't and won't buy tomatoes grown in a greenhouse from Iceland.

So the majority is imported from Morocco.

I think we all know that right?

How bad was it to make it on the news?

Was it her whole house and it had become a health hazzard or was it just a filler piece?

If the tomato shortage is due to Brexit then why is Ireland affected? All you experts on the EU someone must know lol

It's NOT just due to Brexit, it's exacerbated by Brexit.

Brexit doesn't help, bad weather doesn't help, they are all part of the problem, it's in short supply everywhere.
