Anyone Using an Asus DSL-AC68U

@bitsNbobs, That just sounds too simple. Unfortunately I don't really know much about the existing layouts in the walls and floors. I've only owned the house 5 months and been in it two.
What I was referring to with other cables being there was that the previous owner had sensor cables run to every room for an alarm system which were never utilised in the end. For the rooms that have been decorated, We have just pushed them back into the wall. These cables run directly behind where my incoming line is so I could make a penetration there and use the alarm cables to pull in proper cat5/6 direct to the router.

@ViRuS2k, Do you not have the standard BT modem to try for a few days to see if that gives any further change? Even if it was just for test purposes to rule out the Asus.

I noticed a few BT modems going cheap (£5-£10) on gumtree. From speaking to a Billion rep, It looks like the new Billion may be further off than I first hoped.

Which is the current stable version that contains the fix ?
Already have the link to beta posted a few pages back.
the beta you have and the 3.0.0.4.378_5007 from the asus download page
Can anyone confirm if the DSL-AC68U is the same unit throughout the world but only comes with a different adapter?

i think is the same everywhere, however in the box there are supplied a UK & EU plug adaptor included with the main psu which is multi voltage (110/220V)

Hi

Could someone please help me connecting this to Sky Fibre Unlimited Pro.

I go through the set up, select Sky Fibre, enter my details that I obtained from Wireshark, router applies settings, but I still cannot access the net! I know my wireshark details are correct as I have used them before. All I can get is the green light to say DSL is up.

Any ideas?

Thanks

Knockster

I've managed to get a second hand one that is a few months old from a friend. I'll pick it up once I get home in a few days. Hopefully it is stable on my line.
Is it recommended just to update to latest firmware, Reset and then setup as new? If I see line drops then utilise the ESNP adjustment?

Ixel, Have you seen any further improvements yet to your line?

Unfortunately DLM must have a high caution counter on my circuit. I've had around 16 days of uptime and no further changes even though ES/SES is well within the good threshold and SNRM delta looks like it's within an acceptable range too. I haven't rebooted the device though I did re-sync it a few days ago just to see if it would possibly get DLM to do something sometime soon but nothing as yet. FEC errors are going sky high though I'm wondering if I reboot whether that'll fix itself.

67M/20M, INP 3/0, Delay 8ms/1ms

I suppose with the amount of DLM interventions, errors and reboots, It maybe has given you quite a high caution counter. Hopefully some time soon for you though.
How do you go about flashing newer firmware? Just as I mentioned above?

Hi. Found this forum.

Getting my ASUS DSL-AC68U tomorrow.

Does anyone know the settings for talktalk fibre.

Is is VLAN-101
VPI -1
VCI -32

Use DHCP

Also do the lan ports auto detect the speed of the device connected ?

Thanks.

you wont really need to use these settings, just input your username and password on the wizard and it will set it up for you

Yeah just flash it as usual via the router's web interface. That's all I did and it worked fine. Factory reset after the upgrade just to ensure everything is fine (I admit I didn't, but notice nothing wrong even with the new adaptive QoS).

Brilliant! I'll do that off the bat and see how I get on with it then. :D

My talktalk fibre doesnt need a username and password.

On my current router I dont need to put that.

Do I have to use the wizard because wizards usually ask for username and password.

Very tempted to get this. The 2nd wave RT-AC87 is coming out soon.

I have talk talk fibre medium so have the phone socket connected to the openreach vdsl modem which is connected to the crap talk talk n wireless router (Huawei HG533).

This should eliminate the need for both of these.

£200 is a bit expensive though. I wonder how long the wait for the VDSL version of the AC87? (Asus DSL-AC87U)

What are the talktalk fibre connection settings if you don't mind me asking.

Thanks.

Cheekee.
I just set one of these up on TT Fibre Large last week because I didn't like
the wireless performance of the Huawei HG633 router they sent me (that
replaces the now defunct HG635).
As Elim said you don't need to use the settings, just input your username and password in the wizard and it will set everything up for you.
If you don't know/forgot your details (as I had) go to

http://www.talktalkmembers.com/t5/C...Setting-up-a-Non-TalkTalk-Router/ta-p/1324129

There is an automated phone number you can call from your home phone.

Before you do this though upgrade via the web interface to the latest version of the firmware and do a manufacturers reset.

I started on fastpath at 75 up and 19 down and was DLM'd early the following morning for no good reason that I could see (I had zero CRC errors) as this is a brand new connection and have now been up on interleaved (at an interleave depth of 2426 for some reason) for 4 1/2 days.
I am running at 72 up and 18 down and my connection appears stable
0 CRC errors down and 30 up.
Just waiting to see what happens now ...

The setup via the wizard is very simple and worked first time for me.

I called that number and it told me I didnt need a username and password anymore. The router will detect my details from the phone line to connect.
I'm guessing they mean their super router.

My fritzbox just needed to know the VLAN -101

VPI -1
VCI-32

It connected to the internet with just these details.

Are you using the youview service and is it running ok ?

I really need to make up my mind and decide on either a new Billion, Zyxel or Asus, though with G.INP the Billion or Zyxel with broadcom chipsets are having more appeal right now.

I have also got a Netgear D6400 I am now testing on my line, so far so good and it does support G.INP and it uses a Broadcom chipset.

The other good thing is the Wireless AC is as good as my WAC120 for mobile devices with AC syncing at high data rates such as 433Mbps, need to test with my laptop tomorrow but so far better than the D6300 was with mobile phones at least.

Also pings are the same as normal as one would expect on Fastpath around 10 to 12ms to google.com.

Will keep you posted on how it goes as it has only been on for just over 5 hours so far.

All stats got from DSLstats v5.4.5 - You can clearly see the G.INP status, the data sync rates.

Thanks.

I do use the youview service and it runs perfectly via the dsl-ac68U.
I have it running through structured cabling,
If you want to run it via wifii then I suggest you may have to enable
IGMP snooping.
This can be done via the wireless professional settings on the router.

Got the router today. Set up as you say was easy. No username and password.

Got the humax youview box working perfectly.

Very pleased so far :)
