AOC G2460PF

Hi all,

ok so it's time to come out from behind the sofa! Sorry for the lack of communication this past week, we have been doing our best to resolve this issue and can now tell you...

1. Overdrive issue. It’s officially fixed now with a new firmware. Today we have started the rework of our G2460PF stock and it will be delivered to all retailers in Europe within the next two weeks. Of course, our warranty will cover the replacement for end users who bought a G2460PF from the first batch.

2. FreeSync range. The G2460PF does support 35-144Hz when using FreeSync. This week we are releasing an official driver that will improve the current FreeSync range to 35-144Hz. If you just Plug & Play the monitor, without installing any drivers, Windows will set it up at 50-144Hz. The driver will be uploaded on aoc-europe.com before the end of the week.

I hope this helps

this is great news thank you, i saw that the last released driver contained the old free sync range, so i did have a sneaking suspicion that it could be updated with a new driver.

My local retailers told me that they got pullback order from AOC directly, so they took all the V1 back and they will replace their stock with V2, might be different out there, but doesn't hurt to ask.

Nice one , can't wait to get my hands on one of these now.

This is good news and I'm interested again, but think I'll be waiting to see what people think once they have the fixed model.

In exactly the same boat. Want this monitor but want it to be fully functional before pulling the trigger.

I just ordered one today arriving Tuesday. On webpage said 4 in stock.(from somewhere else)
Hoping everything runs smooth with no problems.

Cool - let us know your thoughts; I hope it is much improved with functioning overdrive.

Unfortunately I've returned mine in favour of getting the BenQ XL2730Z so I can't comment on the improvement.

Just a little update on the improved driver to improve the FreeSync operating range. The driver was supposed to be released by the end of October. It's currently undergoing WHQL certification and testing but should be out very soon. I've emailed AOC to find out when it should be released given that it is now at the tail end of the month, but my usual contact there is on holiday currently. I've tested the beta driver and can confirm that FreeSync works at 30 - 146Hz with that, so it will definitely be fixed and should have a 30Hz floor of operation.

Good to know :)
And the other FreeSync AOC monitors, like AOC G2770F there are a same driver ?

And G2260VWQ6 and G2460VQ6 what is the frequency range ?

Thanks .

yes, this is good news; thank you very much for posting.
I was just about to try the Hilbert Hagerdoom 'hack', which with my degree of technical proficiency is probably not a good idea ;)

Hope you can update the thread when / if you hear more about a release date from your contact.

I have contacted AOC europe through their website, but this goes to 'repairtech uk' with whom I've spoken twice directly on the 'phone without any success I'm afraid.

this is excellent news, thank you pcm!

now we just need to hear back from the warranty team with news on stock.

AOC have confirmed that the driver has been approved by AMD (and Microsoft) and will be released in the next few days. The final FreeSync range will apparently be 35 - 144Hz for both the G2460PF and G2770PF.

Looking to buy the G2770PF but how will I know if I am buying an old dud with the rubbish firmware? Can I update the firmware myself?

Cheers guys

on v1 firmware, the overdrive function appears greyed out in the monitor osd, when any other refresh rate than 60hz is set in windows.

great news - thanks so much, PCM2, for the continued updates.

well, my attempt to change the original driver info using the Hagerdoom hack didn't work - the instructions available are actually pretty straight-forward, so I think it's just the AOC driver doesn't quite conform to what's 'necessary' for the hack to work ... You'd need to know more about the nuts n bolts of what's what than I do I think it's fair to say ;-)

not seeing the new driver up on the AOC europe site and assume I'm looking in the
right places ... (i.e. the main product page, which has a 'downloads' section, as well as the 'drivers and manuals' page- which doesn't list the product at all, actually) ... ?

If anyone's found it elsewhere, do please post here.

I asked a EU country's local reseller about the availability of this aoc monitor and they couldn't give any estimate on when they will be available again.
They said that AOC called back this and few other of their monitors, when they noticed this problem.
This was on 25.10.2015.
