Aorus/Gigabyte X570 - Buildzoid Ripple tests with AORUS & ASUS

@tamzzy - has the car put the kibosh on your upgrade plans?

And are you replacing the doors? :D

/off topic
pretty sure your knickers were wound up pretty tight that night lol
Yep, normally I wouldn't have bitten and made a sarcy comment - and probably would have too had there not been a barrage of posts one after the other (noticed a mod has cleaned them up into one singular post). Have since read other posts of his - he seems to bait people to bite - possibly out of lighthearted **** take, can't work it out with all the emoji usage. Either way, I shouldn't have taken the bait - but was kinda cathartic...

No matter, lesson learnt, no late night forum activity after a tough day at work - especially when still dealing with said fall out of tough day.

no but yes. still gonna upgrade...will work extra shifts to pay off the car repair costs.
:/ but glad to read you have a compromise.

Board and CPU you seem to have reserved, pending reviews - have you decided on case/cooling? That's probably the most intriguing part of your build for me - that and Orbi as i think he's yet to decide too.

have you decided on case/cooling?
would love a super mini mitx build with custom loop based on the apogee 2 block/pump
but alas, i think it'll probably be the neo-g + aio cpu/gpu cooling (ie no change to current cooling setup)
the gains aren't huge to warrant the time/money spent on a custom loop...

Damn! Was hoping you would venture down old paths and do the former. Your nuts build log/s and further random YouTube builds had 'almost' got me excited about water again - but only in small form factor as i've never attempted it. Bottled out of it again - so plain ol' dampened black box and brick...

Still, Neo-G should be satisfying - a lot of case for the money.

haha as i've previously preached, custom loop is the icing on the cake, and not icing instead of the cake.
no point custom watercooling a poverty spec lol

Taichi £248, I'll pass unfortunately and stick with intel. Really not interested in a X470 board.
If you don't need the x570 features and if they over spec the B550s in a similar fashion to the x570s it may be worth the wait. Chips will have dropped in price, early adoption problems ironed out and should all come bundled at a satisfying cost to performance ratio.

If you go INTEL - which CPU, or waiting?

The CPU was always going to be done later anyway, plan was to build everything else first and get away with a more budget chip until November. Guess I could wait to be honest, not that desperate to do it right away.

If you can afford to wait, your wallet will thank you. The kicker is, missing out on the 'in it together' factor (sharing data of new setups) - which is part of the enjoyment of new architecture.

The board prices are hitting some hard - and seems to have been a directive by AMD to board manufactures (according to MSI boss) - something about quality parity with INTEL high end boards - or words to that effect. Problem/predictable thing being is the resultant quality of PCB/features have came at a significantly higher premium. Had it not been for the fans i wouldn't have blinked, but the chance of an annoying fan at £240+ does give pause for thought - or in my case waiting for reviews.

Still intent on buying Zen 2 - but will be timed if necessary, like many others.

Hmm, yes the fan may well be annoying, but must at least be a PWM having a complete silent operation at idle. Really want to see the Aorus mitx exceed to be honest, been wanting to pick up a dan case for a while.

Should check out the Lian-Li Q37.

@Plec you able to find that rare Strix B440 version for a good price ?
No - not from anywhere i would risk giving my CC details - but equally fearful of the RMA process if I did (*insert usual horror blurb).

OcUK sell them - but only as a bundle which oddly includes the 2600 and not the X (if they bundle the X with expected discounts next week, then with the offset of 2 free games I would be 'semi'-interested)

Yeah, obvious expectation is that it's passive unless under strain - it shouldn't even glance in my direction, if its inclusion is correct. (Not sure why they demoed one spinning at full whack - odd PR choice)

Oooooo that looks niiiiiice
Oooooo - a case that expects custom water :D

@Plec

Reason for Pro over elite .

Check out layout of PCIe 4.0 lanes ...

Almost sums up how B550 versions will be....
Should CUT the costs for the Elite and hopefully means Gaming X keeps its costs down !

@tamzzy

They redid it bar front glass. Allows ATX PSU and slight raise for more clearance with triple slow GPUs .

http://www.lian-li.com/pc-q39/

So tempting to cut the midway to allow dual 120s to be mounted in PSU chamber .
Also has USB C 3.1 port unlike the class version

Alza is a pretty big etailer in their country, shouldn't be too much of an issue

Hmmmm choices choices....
But it's triple the cost of the neo-g...

Buildzoid has gotten the Ultra naked !!! Pretty much the Pro but with PCIe lanes differing along with fancy dual finned heatsink

@tamzzy yeah! all aluminum !!!! CyberMedia being a bit quiet is they'll make a Steel ITX Dynamic case :(

could just get lian li USB 3.1 internal head cable and cut the neo case . Have a feeling would want 280 aio rather then 240 on the 12 core ryzen with some good voltage applied

interesting - buildzoids guessing on ASUS ITX

@Plec - in theory what £119 B450 Carbon main competitor - in theory this SHOULD BE £135 ... but i dont think it will be that with the £££ in its weak state
