Aorus/Gigabyte X570 - Buildzoid Ripple tests with AORUS & ASUS

@Plec

Reason for Pro over elite .

Check out layout of PCIe 4.0 lanes ...

Almost sums up how B550 versions will be....
Should CUT the costs for the Elite and hopefully means Gaming X keeps its costs down !

@tamzzy

They redid it bar front glass. Allows ATX PSU and slight raise for more clearance with triple slow GPUs .

So tempting to cut the midway to allow dual 120s to be mounted in PSU chamber .
Also has USB C 3.1 port unlike the class version

controller - First page give brief insight to how its Boards PWM/VRMs are set up

@EsaT is pretty clued up on it . Gigabyte taken a huge step being the first to use 16 channel controllers. Most use 8 or Multi Phase controllers which are an in between - Godlike uses this method but still is a Beast like its Xtreme rival!

ok, I thought it was something to do with fans as you get PWM fans. Very confusing when you’re not a techie.

What is PWM exactly?
It's precisely what it "says on the tin".
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pulse-width_modulation

In case of VRMs that duty cycle is used to control output voltage/current capability by varying amount of time transistor is open at once.

PWM fans use PWM signal from motherboard/fan controller as TTL control signal for their speed controlling electronics.

ITX board is spot on, best I've seen in a long while, just need the price now. @200 it's a instant buy...... think it will be closer to the 250 mark though :(

Which case is this?

sorry, Lian Li like a lot of Taiwanese use PR companies . been pushing to find out dates for XL or other cases . just time difference is a pain !

Do you guys just connect your fans to the board or do you use a controller?

board mostly

My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £180.49 (includes shipping: £10.50)

^^^ £170 + 15% or better yet 25% with weak Pound - £200-20 I dont believe in the 60% hike crap thats been floating around . would make it £272 ....

TDA mosfet are $4 each rather then IR3556's normally used at $0.70 a pop, but SoC is cheaper PPaks and then controller isn't as fancy as Master/xtreme - then less PCIe 4.0 lanes to deal with nor finned heatsink

last 5 or so years now I only use Motherboard Fan headers for Fans, Controls them Great in Software, Gigabyte I think have the Edge on best Fan control on motherboards
many years ago I was using hardware fan controllers with cable clutter & had to keeping reaching to set fans on the panel.
(1) the Fan software part not bloated, Asus got good fan control software but bloated with other unwanted software
(2) More Control over the fans & Can switch off what fans you want

@Plec @tamzzy

sue this was £220 when i was trying to ram this down your throat plec....
Yes, it was. And it's a similar theme with the quality B450's too - not just here.

If the Zen+ chips drop on Monday, they will have essentially given with one hand and taken away with the other - average consumer wont notice.

But, who are we kidding - we expected it...

Do you guys just connect your fans to the board or do you use a controller?
@robfosters - motherboard, and set the curve via BIOS - I don't install blaotware/RGB on OS, horses for courses etc...

True :)

@tamzzy , my prediction of £200 to £230 is highly accurate , as my tea leaves have just lined up in my empty cup at work- sorry had to pump up by £10 to cover the range

@Plec using the most expensive Z390 Pro Wifi £215 + shipping £15 times by 15% mark up give you £265 . now give or take free delivery or cheaper and you've got your price range £250-265

@orbitalwalsh would've thought so. £200 would be nice, but I can see the x570i to be £220

you've pretty much nailed it on the head! might drop to £210 depending on OCUK rivals that sell boards cheaper . honestly priced next to elite and Pro... its a bargin ! as normally ITX are very expensive ! having less PCIe 4.0 lanes is a GOD Send . at this rate, ITX will have a Higher adoption!

WHY gigabyte haven't done an mATX is mind melting !!! and explains roughly Z390 Gaming X at max listed price £148 inc delivery + 20% uplift lands at £178 has a big difference to expected Pro pricing of £255 with twice as much PCIe 4 sockets in use ...

x470 Aorus 7, Asus CH7 and Taichi x470 are going to sell out fast!

The Taichi, even with its god-awful graphic design is particularly appealing if on a budget - ~£180 - for now...

just remember to pack £20 with RMA . but yeah. all flagship X470 are going to sell out now!

just told friend to reorder .

so- looks like Intel vs AMD will equal the same price in some cases for 8 core vs 8 core ... depending on someones budget and needs....
