They did. In order for existing 720p owners to upgrade to 1080p, you have to go into the Store settings in the iTunes preferences and select 1080p, then all your stuff should get upgraded.

EDIT - for Americans at least, doesn't seem to be on the UK one.
 
Will It be possible to stick a "3" or "o2" sim card in this for data? How will this work with PAYG sim cards and the 4G thing? I'm assuming it's backwords compatible. I'd really like the iPad to work outside and in the car, I doubt I'd buy one if I couldn't use it when mobile.

yeah no one has 4g mainstream in the uk yet, think there are some trials, it will take a 3g microsim

Just been going mental trying to find that!

I'm sure it will come to the UK in due course.

I imagine they will have anticipated the level of demand fairly accurately, which means they probably don't have the website capacity to handle the volume of traffic they are currently getting.

I'm not sure about pre-orders but I know they were using the reserve system which I read a lot of complaints about.

On my MBP I managed to reserve one.. while on my desktop there were none available, was weird. My iPad 1 reserve with the purple shirt place was luck as well. They just had a delivery of literally a couple... everyone was still struggling.
