Aquiss

If I did choose Plusnet, it's not worth switching until March otherwise I'll be paying more if I switched now. They need to bin the whole price increase in march rubbish.
£773 Vs £731
It'd be slightly better if they said price increases at month 12 of your contract. As you can tell the whole thing just bugs me.

Can't disagree with that. Then again I only have to think about energy suppliers to get totally confused with their tariffs and rates. I get more than an impression that certain pricing structures are designed with confusion and difficulty in making comparisons their upmost priority.

Looking at getting Aquiss, I have Eero mesh devices, Im not very internet tech savvy, is there any downside to connecting via PPPoe protocol which is what I would need to use?

The only downside with PPPoE versus DCHP is the overhead of processing the encryption and this can limit the maximum throughput on devices without sufficient CPU/hardware offload to manage it.

This is why there are many reports of users with various less powerful routers losing bandwidth with their devices on a faster PPPoE connection when they, or other users could can max out the same speed for a DHCP connection. So just ensure whatever router you use is powerful enough for a PPPoE of the maximum speed you expect to use in its lifetime.

With Aquiss - a great company. If you have any problems, speak to Martin (Aquiss CEO - easy to talk to), even before you join Aquiss. I do not see any downside.

I've been on Aquiss for several months now, came over from Virgin. Always been impressed with their communication when lower order failures have impacted their service or any questions that I've had, which have been very few tbh.

It's just nice to know that if I do have an issue I don't have to call the 'bucket-of-hell-on-earth' that is Virgin Support.

@beachBOYken I had a similar issue to you, I just bought a simple router (TPlink ER605 v2) to do PPPoE bit, I probably could have got it working with my Plume Mesh system but went the simpler route (pun intended) :)

Thankfully my Eero mesh will work over PPPoE after asking Martin from Aquiss. Now just got to wait until my VM contract is up in about 11 weeks time.

I played safe - I connected to Aquiss 2 weeks before expirity of Virgin contract. That way I made sure that I had a service in case something went wrong. Thankfully all went well and I had 2 providers for a short time

I would always to this in the future, as I was out of internet access twice for 2 weeks as thats how long it takes openreach pillocks to do something!

Finally decided to join. Gone for the 300Mb package at £45 a month.
Be nice having the speed boost from 76Mb.

Anyone using Unifi can you list your settings please make it easy.

Set it to prefix delegation /56 and it should pick it up, then enable v6 on the required networks to pick up an address.
Same setting for BT then so other than my username and password I shouldn't need to change anything. Thanks
Luckily I'm using a Dream Machine SE so I can change that even while at work so the wife will be happy.

6th November. Switching has certainly got faster.
I wonder if I'll get any improvement on 7ms Ping (router to Google)

It'll depend on your location and routing. I get 9ms from Liverpool, but I don't know if that's going via Manchester or direct to London. My first hop after the router is 8.5ms and it stays at that level until it hits Google's IP.

Has anyone had their new IPv4/IPv6 address yet? Had an email on the 14th Oct to say I'd be getting a new IPv4 address in the next 30 days but I'm yet to get one. I'm assuming I'd get a notification email - it's still the same address showing on my UniFi WAN port at the moment.

I had mine change last week and I had an email in advance to tell me the date and time window. However I did query this when I received the original new IP email so not sure if everyone gets the change date/time email or just those that ask for it.
