Archery

Thats why i like my compound bow ;)
It just goes in the bag when done, no faffing. Come to shoot, out of the bag, check sight & nocking point/d-loop, long rod on then shoot :)

I used to find that if bow arm shoulder wasnt dropped, then i'd hit my arm more often & it hurts! Now my bow is just about right for backtension release, my arm is well clear of being hit.

Longbow archers have even less to do. String bow. GO!

Still doesnt make me want to swap though.

After our discussion the other day something has changed in my technique that I cant figure out.

I have had to move my sight almost 1cm to the right (this hasnt changed in over a year) and I have started clipping my arm more. Bloody annoying to say the least.

I got my 3rd Class last weekend, which I see as an achievement in my first outdoor season. Although there are a couple of chaps how may get their 1st Class by the end of the season and we all started at the same time.

Last week the coach tells me my draw elbow is high and I need to lower it and my game has gone to pot - I really need to sort it out

I Shoot an English Longbow for fun and a Falco Trophy Vintage for pure awesomeness.

Making a Doz Tonkin cane arrows at the minute. Fed up with breaking my self made woodys :)

^ Sometimes known as "The black art" :)

Been Reading the Tonkin Cane arrows are quite spine tolerant with them having a natural taper from pile to nock. I should be finished in around a week so I'll try them on both my bows.

Both are similar poundage though at roughly 50lb, difference being the Falco is a field bow with a shelf and carbon layers between the wood limbs where as the longbow is slower being Hickory/purple heart/Lemon wood laminates.

Arrows are looking beautiful though so far but a hell of a lot of work goes into making them. I love the points I've got for them :) ->>>-----------------> Sexy Engineering

Must start making my own arrows. Fletching is no problem along with fitting nocks. Just fitting points is the one i havent tried.

Been offered a Mongolian bow & 18 arrows for £200. Its 50lb draw but does'nt feel it which is nice.

you going to go for it Shoei ?

Some of those Mongolian bows look nice.. Plus it's good to have a few different types to play around with unless your one of the Recurve robots who's scared to shoot other bow types in case it messes with their form and they lose a few points on a round :)

I love making my own gear probably as much as shooting at times, had a go at lots of arrow types, made jigs for arrow barrelling and spine testing. Just getting the parts together to do a jig for fletching 61/4 inch goose feathers onto medieval war arrows. Had a go at sewing leather, cresting, home made targets etc. etc. Becomes addictive :)

It is very tempting, need to pass it by the Bank Manager first. Would be nice as the bloke whos selling has been great regards helping my son with his shooting as well as a great laugh when i've been head to head with him in some of the games we play at archery. Mind games galore ;) Sad part is, his cancer has come back more aggressively & may not make the summer :(
I shoot compound anyway, non of this recurve malarky for me. I just just technology to throw the arrows.

I just find fletching nice & relaxing. At least i've found out why my **** feathers(ooeerrr) we're getting taken off, the launcher on my bow was set to low. Lots of messing & its back to the right height.

If you do get it throw a few pictures up ..

Know what you mean about fletching being relaxing.I bind most of mine with thread on the leading edge as well..It's a wooden arrow thing :)

Fitted some Beaver puff silencers to my Falco tonight, They look good but not sure how effective they will be or how much drag they will cause ?

These are the ones i've fitted.

New arrows time for me now :-(
My XX75's aren't stiff enough now(ooeerrr). Wound the bow up yesterday while i was getting it set up properly for the BT release & they were like porpoises chasing a boat.
The FMJ's are fine being 400 shaft, they are good for upto 50lb draw weight & length.
Easton Gamegetters should do the trick, cheap & in the right spine for what i need.
