Archery

Very nearly finished off 9 Bamboo arrows, just need to bind the fletchings on the leading edge,
fit some mini wraps I've put together and give them a coat of Danish Oil.

Couldn't resist trying 3 of them out today in this weather,Made them for my Falco but they seem all right out of the Longbow as well.
Making the Arrows solid for the last few days has put me in a gear tweaking mood. Just fitted a new string to the longbow as well.
Was on a 16 strand old Dacron but now risking a thin Fast flight one

I spend that much time tweaking, polishing, oiling and making gear for them I'm falling in love with them both :)

Those look amazing. Well impressive that you can do that.

I deviated from my usual recurve and tried a longbow on saturday. it was good apart from I don't wear an arm guard with my recurve (I use it as a training aid, if I hit my arm there is something wrong with my technique) so with this 45lb longbow it snaps against my arm and traps some skin against my watch and broke the skin. One hell of a bruise.

Nice to know my skills are transferable though. 50 yds and by the second end I hat 5 out of 6 arrows on the boss.

cheers Lads, making the arrows etc is something I love doing. Just wish I shot as well with them :)

Robertnpmk, I know where your coming from with the string slap, had a few bruisers myself, and sound like your better than me already :)

Damn they do look very nice, why have you used different points though? Different weights or just what you had lying around?

Different arrows for different bows and also different types of competition.

Lot of trial and error goes into matching arrows for traditional bows :)

Points weigh the same 125 grains except for the blue shafts which are lightweight 80 grains for 180 yard clout shooting.Have small fletchings and lighter wood shafts.

Bamboo arrows (Brown ones) have a tang that inserts inside the bamboo once your drill and hollow it out, gives it strength. and looks the dogs to be honest.

Heavy looking black ones have Modkins on, target friendly still but historic style. these are big heavy arrows for indoor 25 yard shooting. Good stabilty.

Red arrows are for the Falco, it's a beast so solid arrows mainly for outdoor target 30 yards and above.

Well managed a score of 804 for an Albion round. Still waiting for the results to be released to see where I placed but I did manage to win the team trophy.

Edit: 7th place: Albion results Im well happy with that.

How many years have you guys been doing this? I need to aim for the kinda scores you are getting!

This is my first outdoor season only started last October. I just try hard and ensure someone of worth provides feedback on my technique.

Plus carbon arrows help over longer distances

This will be my second outdoor after over a year off, really think I need to get down the field at least twice a week to see a real change. Ill post scores when they are vaguely competitive!

As with any other skill it takes practice and concentration to improve. When I have not shot for a week and I go back I can feel myself having to really concentrate not to mess up a shot.

Also found reading this: KSL Shot Cycle to be very helpful.
