ahh the way people where posting i thought it was literally changing when they checked out and then got stung.

If that did happen then yes, they would have a legitimate complaint, no question.

The last price displayed in the 'basket' is what they should be charged.

The original prices on the site were a farce, its that simple, I as a purchasing manager myself I would have started the prices off as they are now, which are competitive compared to other e-tailer, rather than create the illusion of cheaper pricing, now I understand the tactic, but is was poor one, and arguably an unethical one at that. The interest in these cards were off the charts, they didn't need to play the 'cheapest launch price card' and end upsetting whole swathes of your own customers, it should never be about about making larger short term profits, company reputation is important, every single one of my customers is treated as a potential long term contract, and trust is a key element of maintaining that contract.

And who sets-up that 'logic' and governs it's rules, did AI set the pricing?

But it's ok! Gibbo said so. They told us the prices would rise... that they'd mess around with them whilst demand was at a fever pitch for maximum gouging should have been a given I guess?

I think you're exactly right though. What sticks in my craw is the illusion that they are doing us a favour and that they treat their customers with anything other than contempt. You can be successful and still treat your customers with something approaching respect and at least be honest. Honesty is severely lacking. Everything has an excuse ready to go.

Because like many we have sold our cards to help place funds towards the new one, also going off previous launches you can end up waiting sometimes months to get the card if you don't get the first batch, and finally the 'honey trap' prices that they put up to entice you to order.

It's up to individuals whether they choose to be ripped off, I just sat back and watched OCUK gouge the hell out of the prices. People can say it's Brexit, exchange rates, solar flares, the earth's magnetic field etc etc. Ultimately, the cards like the gigabyte eagle jumped up £40 in no time, yet other retailers didn't do this. OCUK haven't exactly covered themselves in glory and it's certainly making me question whether I will buy from them in future.

I'll sit back, wait for AMD's disappointment of a card and evaluate pricing once the madness dies down and the impatient people buy all the expensive stock up lol.

Exactly, I wish I could reflect exchange rate prices at the time of sale for all the items my company sells. If they are really seeing these level of cost increases between orders when they order stocks with Nvidia then that's a really poor show. Maybe a bit unlikely.
The excuse of exchange price is utter rubbish as none of their other products were showing same fluctuations in price. Confirming price on a product at point of sale then taking a different amount from someone's account is theft and illegal. I am in contact with police. Will also get in contact with trading standards after call to police

Order Declined - Payment Failed? Not according to Amazon it didn't. Can't get these people on the phone.

What does this mean?

Under no illusions that I would have to wait but don't take my money and cancel the order!

Wow, I almost had a heart attack, i thought my whole order was refunded as i had pointed out in ticket that the price had gone down but:

"
We'll have more information about stock availability later today, where we'll be sending an email update to all customers with a pre-order pending.

Thanks very much for your patience!

I can see the card's current price is £719.99 so I've refunded the difference of £30 to your account.
"

Fantastic! OCUK got our backs just hang tight.

Customer service goes a long way, did you get this update by using webnotes to contact them or via Chat? I can't seem to use chat right now.

All the situation with supply and demand is a bloody joke.
Have the suppliers and manufacturers started the productions last week?
Also prices here are a proper rip off. 698 I paid for tuf non OC version.

I am in contact with police.

WoW you got price gauged and you are saying thats fantastic!
What a world we live in.

sit down and hang tight, we all in for a long wait.

Asus already said before sale, Strix cards are not stocked anywhere atm - looking at least a week+ wait.

Retailers were only getting/due to have stock of the TUF models first.

Yeah that's true, I don't really mind waiting a little longer, my EVGA 1080 FTW will keep me going for the time being

Confirming price on a product at point of sale then taking a different amount from someone's account is theft and illegal.

Is that exactly what happened though or did the price just change during the check-out process?

If the last price displayed when you clicked on the final confirmation was not the price they actually charged then you have a legitimate complaint.

If it changed between hitting buy on the product page and the price displayed right before the final confirmation click, then that is unfortunate but not in itself illegal.

Im just going to wait to get one from Nvidia tbh for the money the FE card is all i need and in no rush to have it on day one! my 2070s FE is so much better than the 2080 3rd party one i had for a time!
