This isn't necessarily my situation (as I saw Gibbo's posts before the launch) but I know some people didn't know they were pre-ordering because the website went wrong and started stating certain items were in stock or had an ETA within a week. Obviously, customers will now have been disabused of that idea and they can cancel whenever they want but I can see how that would be frustrating. Furthermore, people are buying an expensive luxury item and have put down a significant amount of money so probably expect a high level of customer service. It is probably a foreign concept to many to pay a load of money for something and be told that "you'll get it when you get it".

I recognise that OCUK are probably genuinely having issues knowing when the stock will arrive but for those of us not in the PC components retail industry, that seems strange. One would expect manufacturing and retail are pretty predictable activities (even during a global pandemic). Manufacturers (some of whom run fully-automated factories) typically know how many products they will make in a period of time and logistics companies know how many items they can ship in a period of time so it seems odd that there is not more of a plan of what will be delivered and when.

That said, I'm in no huge rush but my point is that I can see why others might be frustrated.
^^^^^^^ All of this. ^^^^^^^
Couldn't agree more.

Well, apart from I WANTZ IT NOWZ! Seriously though, I am in the unfortunate situation of being isolated from my family because of Covid, so I am stuck here looking for any entertainment I can get - the GPU was something I was very much looking forward to helping with that. So I'm definitely frustrated. But, at least this forum is keeping me entertained the meantime. :-D

Seems that way, although, on a random note, the 850w recommendation on Asus' site is when the cards are paired with Ryzen 9/Intel i9. I have a Ryzen 7, which they recommend 750w for, so hopefully my PSU will be ok

Yea, a beefy CPU can break 300w, more if overclocked, add 350w for the card and some for the rest and you are probably well into 700w+

I think some (reviewers) have shown a 650w psu can cope but that would be a lesser setup and you would be on the edge, so it best be a bloody good psu and you may be using SATA/Molex adaptors *shudder*. Would you really put a £700 cpu on a £60 psu?

When I looked I didn't see much price difference, and the RM 850 comes in at a reasonable price (relative). I actually got an RMx 850 in the end.

yeah that makes you a.... risk adverse customer. I get it I do but that behaviour is lets put it politely a 'me first' attitude, it doesn't help the situation and even if your return is cycled back into the stock pool it takes time and effort to process that

Let’s just say it wasn’t intentional. I already have a 3080, but I ordered this one for my partner. My partner also ended up ordering one from the competitor. Didn’t know until he got his dispatch email; not much I can do unfortunately.

Think negatively of me if you wish; I know I am not too fussed with how you think :-)

As at 5pm on the 17th or in total?

If the former, it is not impossible given the inaccuracy of our unofficial data and that people may have since swapped to a TUF. Slightly frustrating though.

As of Monday this week.

I asked about my EVGA order, of which no European vendors have stock. I said selling it with this understanding was misleading, and I was allowed to chose a new card. I asked what had the most orders, and they detailed a vast array of cards that had 500, 1000 etc orders per card. I stayed clear of these.

Agreed, but now they appear to have said that they will no longer be screwing their customers by allowing queue jumping, the chances of actual updates are better now, seeing as we can only move forwards from this point forth.
Up to a few days ago they also said that the only way to change card for the order was to cancel and pre-order again, queue-jumping was not possible according to them. Then it was. Then today isn't. The official queue will always be published "today or tomorrow" - on a side note, those who keep insisting that OCuk is not doing bad in terms of communication, think again because these examples here are part of the problem.

I worked at mitek back in the day. Whilst things may have changed, you knew exact numbers and projected delivery dates way ahead of time. Issues arise, mistakes happen and for god's sake don't promise what's not in hand but they'll know a ton more than you think.

Edit: don't forget they're a customer too, they still spend money with Nvidia or other AIBs

Well played AMD.

Hmm You must be thinking Intel extreme or Threadripper for cpu to break 300w but ye 850 should cut it.

Was supposed to be my 3080 delivered today. Had OCUK switch my delivery from DHL to DPD as last time I had DHL do an OCUK order it got messed. Looks like DPD decided to just not send my package out for delivery today. Joy
