Arsenal sign Reyes

Everyone keeps saying R.Madrid always sign whoever they want and convince players. First of Ronaldo + Beckham were unhappy at their clubs when they left. Zidane + Figo left for the money.

R.Madird always get their man? They didn't get Vieira did they? Vieira said just other day that he would not join them now and Henry probabl won't either.

Henry and Arsenal have stated on countless occations that this ain't gonna happen. David Dein said the other day 'This is pure invention. The situation hasn't changed with regards to Thierry Henry and our attitude remains the same - hands off.'

Wenger has £10mill right now, he will get some of the granada money later on and said he should have £20mill by the summer. So that means we will have £3.4mill left in the summer. The rest of the money will be given to Sevilla is small amounts over the next few years which we can easily afford.

Everyone has come to the conclusion Henry is leaving coz of the huge amount we paid for Reyes, we can afford it though.

I always thought the priority for Arsenal was a striker and a central defender?

It would appear they have neither with this acquisition? Isnt this kid a natural left winger?

Maybe Wenger is going to do what he did with Henry - convert the foo!

Reyes is such a quality player.......he will be an excellent signing for the gooners.

He's to have his medical tonight/tomorrow morning and if he doesn't fail that, then a press conference will be called Wednesday/Thursday.

I just hope for Arsenals sake that he's a fit and healthy geezer. ;)

Hes gonna be awesome player for us, i think we wont see how good till next season tho when hes aclimatised to english footie.

I notice arsenal.com website is down.

I hope they didnt flog it to fund the transfer :p

hmm very good signing this for arsenal and for English Football.

someone mentioned earlier on that the two top teams in the land have two new strike partnerships.

Unfortunatyely Arsenal look to have the better

It's too early to say whcih team has the better partnership, we will need to see how quick Reyes settles in. It may take him a few months.

maybe but still what i meant was arsenal seem to have the better on paper.

Excellent bit of business for Arsenal, at just £16.5m great price, so Liverpool seem to have got Cisse for £14m, who said above Man U got Saha for £12.8m, wonder which is the best, sorry should I say worst bit of business :p

I am surprised that Arsenal didn't try and get someone like VDV for that kind of money, especially with Bergkamp leaving this summer etc, Van Der Vaart would have been an ideal replacement.

Still can't complain this kid is good, very good and for just £4m more than the cost of Ronaldo it isn't bad business at all, almost an investment if this kid continues to improve as he has done in recent years.

Good advert for English footy also, if the likes of him want to come to England, then mabye others like Van der Vaart will follow to Liverpool in the summer :D

Just like to add that mabye Cisse & Owen is a better partnership than Henry & Rayes :) lol yea right, but then Cisse, Owen & VdV would be the icing on the cake :)

at the moment i would put it in this order of best bits of business

1:Reyes
2:Saha
3:Cisse

as Cisse has only been playing in a poor comparison to the PL ;) Anyone can look good playing in the equivalent of our First Division.

But then again the above could change as none have yet turned out for there new clubs.

Good to see Wengers got the chequebook out :D
From what iv been reading he seems like an excellent player, dont have access to spanish footy so cant comment personally, but for Wenger to spend £20million he must be good

Glad to see Wenger is preparing for the future as well, we have lots of young talent hopefully coming through - Clichy, Bentley (ok only scored one senior goal and few appearances in meaningful competition, but still looks a good player), Alliadiere and now Reyes :)

If this guy is bought with the money saved from off loading Kanu, Jeffers, wiltord and Bergkamp.............
Doest this leave you light up front for cover?
Does this mean a shift to 4-4-2?

Word is its what united are going to go back 4-4-2 and play both Saha and Van Nistelrooy toghether.
Lots of goals all round then.

Err We already play a 4-4-2! (I suppose Bergkamp will drop deep but he is, and always has been a striker/forward)

Kanu/Wiltord are likely to leave on a free, with Jeffers sold, but it still leaves 4 up top with Henry, Reyes, Bentley, and Ali. Which is possibly as strong as it is now as Wiltord and Kanu have hardly been at the top of their game.

:D best signing i've seen at Arsenal for a while ... should help regain that PL trophy ;) ... jus hope he fulfills the expectations ... not that i'm doubting him one bit! :)
What with the progression to the next round of the CL it'll b good to have a fresh player whos got a good head for goals ... someone to become Henry Jr :p ... great stuff all round :D

Came as a bit of a surprise as I am sure I read an interview with that sly Wenger on arsenal.com and he said there was a 20% chance of a player being bought. Saw him in the game against Madrid too, should be a good buy

Correct. Cisse is fairly average, and I don't think I'm going to be proved wrong when (if) he goes to Liverpool.

He can play upfront but Sevilla have chose to play him on the left.

(Cue Spurs fan doing his utmost to upset Arsenal Fans)

The guys 20 years old, and has been played on the wing at the one club hes played footy at, and yet he can play upfront? Not exactly proven is he!

But as i said, i suppose Wenger has a good track record with converting wingers to strikers.
