Ashes thread - England vs Australia * SPOILERS *

Good stuff from Hoggard but Aussies did ok to fight back after some early set backs. Hussey misses out again on a century lol, unlucky for him. Need to get Gilchrist and and Clarke out early now.

Hopefully he won't regret that but bad things can happen when you drop the most inform batsman in world cricket....

Well he went on to make yet another century, he has 33 now and only 2 behind Tendulkar. When Tendulkar made his 35th century you just couldn't see any player getting close but I don't think anyone expected 10 centuries in 13 matches from Ponting! He is now averaging over 60 as well in Test cricket which is unbelievable and I wouldn't put it past him going past Tendulkar's record in this series!

Ok Deep breath :p Its called a TEST match, which implies it is a test of skill, talent and tacticse
You don't have to be condescending to someone when they've pre-warned anyone reading their post that its a noob question

I'll be straight with you here, that post made you look a hell of a lot worse than he did for asking the question.

Good stuff from England. Pitch looks difficult for scoring on due to it getting slower.

The Barmy Army have been totally awesome  :D

I watched the first hour then went to bed, the pitch is very placid and this had drawn written on it from the moment England scored the big total.
We haven't got the firepower to bowl the Aussies out twice on this sort of pitch. :(

Only way we're going to win is just hoof it for the first two hours, hope to accumulate a decent lead, then try and bowl them out, but sadly, that's highly unlikely.

Brett Lee's been fined 25% of his match fee for excessive appealing :p

my fear with that would be australisa would make a decent effort to get the total we would set! too risky really. vaughns captaincy is missed above all else - not necessarily in this test but he was one of the great tacticians and thinkers in the game imo

Well looks like the English have finally turned up for a proper match:D, well done to Hoggard for bagging 7 wickets...bowled very very well considering the pitch had nothing in it really. Harmy flopped again although this time round hes slightly better with his bowling...lets see what he does in the 2nd innings though. Fine innings by Collingwood and Pietersen even though i cant stand the both of them especially Pietersen....cocky little SOB english wanna-be tbh:p...heard hes in a bit of strife with some comments he made about SA cricket and their selection process, guess he has some sour grapes to air. Cant seem to get past that magic 158 tho lol :p...anyways a good century regardless.

Another fine century by Ponting, showing exactly why hes the best batsman in the world...hes now on 33 test centuries. An excellent century by Micheal Clarke as well, played out of his skin and had good support from Gilchrist. All the Aussies have to do is get some quick wickets later today and thats ball game over for England. They already bagged one wicket before close of play, must say im extremely impressed by S Clark, what a bowler hes turned out to be..shame hes over 30 so wont be around for much longer...he would be an excellent long term replacement for MacGrath.

As for the result i think it will end up being a draw which the Aussies, i dont think will mind too much. Sadly i cant see England winning this, either way they are going to have an impossible task to win it but then miracles do happen.

Not a bad performance by the English, they are doing much better than the first match which they got royally spanked.

.

That's one reason why Pieterson is probably one of my favourite batsman, his agression and cockyness, absolute brilliant stuff which makes cricket so much more exciting. Same with Brett Lee, cocky bloke but makes cricket fun.

Just got in from work, watched the highlights on the BBC and must say, cricket isn't that bad of a sport. In the past I've never really liked it much, and watching it was painful, but after watching those highlights, I must admit, it's quite addictive.

England are playing a very dangerous game here, if they dont get at least 200 ahead then they are gonna lose this game.

Tbh they've played very negative this morning, 13 overs 11 runs thats pathetic really when we need to be putting a decient buffer between us and them.

Edit: Pietersens out now :( 4 days hard graft is about to go up in smoke here

You're worrying about nothing lads, they won't lose from here :)

If Collingwood and Flintoff go within the hour, THEN start worrying, actually you have another specialist batsmen down the order who can save the day... Giles :p ;)
