Ashes thread - England vs Australia * SPOILERS *

I don't know what Collingwood was playing at. He batted for 3 hours and only got 22 runs. He seemed reluctant to go for anything and just played negative shots. I've got to say Warne bowled fantastically well and made great use of the rough. It's a shame we haven't got a decent spinner to do the same for us.

WTF, woke up and was expecting a draw and now it looks like we are going to lose !!! What a waste of the hard work, complete muppets

I did say last year when we won the Ashes that I didn't think the England team was that good, and that we had had some fortuitous victories such as when McGrath was injured. The team's form since then up to and including this current Ashes tour has borne that out unfortunately  Can't bat, can't bowl, can't catch. Same sad old bloody story.

Its very grim, we seem to be poor at all three main sports at the moment. Its a pathetic state of affairs. :(

Countries like Australia have world class cricket and rugby teams for years - we have decent ones for a few years, win the world cup or the Ashes, then it all goes to pollocks after that...

Aussies need 33 from ten overs.

OVER 79: Flintoff: 0-0-0-0-0-7
132-4 - A great over from Flintoff ruined by a three from Clarke followed by four overthrows in another shambolic episode. The relay throw from Hoggard finds Pietersen who fires it in needlessly and Jones fails to react letting the ball go straight through and all the way to the boundary - their skipper is fuming!
Doesn't help :o

Maybe just maybe panasar might get a go now

Lol...we can only hope. I'm afraid it is a case of too little, too late.
Flintoff must be getting fed up though. He has to carry the whole bloody team.

Really, our batting was simply awful. Too defensive, not looking to win the game, not looking to put runs on the board, just block, block and then a wicket. Australia way too good.

Don't quite understand your point about Flintoff in this match? He was off the field for most of the Aussies first innings and was poor with the bat. Agree with the batting though, why couldn't the players just play their natural games. I was expecting us to be positive and come out and look to set the Aussies a target, instead we were like the ones on the backfoot and decided to block. Not the right attitude and one which may cost Fletcher his job. On current showing that can only be a good thing since it will get Monty in the team...

its been a while since we had a good old fashioned england batting collapse..but sadly they have not gone forever by the look of it

they bottled it just when they needed to be strong

and now people will just remember the poor second innings instead of the strong 1st innings

and of course...when we did collapse and needed to have an attacking spin bowler who could exploit the rough, we didnt have him in the team
