Ashes thread - England vs Australia * SPOILERS *

That's an early lunch with rain pouring down and we're lucky only to lose one wicket, although Cook was very, very unlucky to get out like that.

Currently 101-2, off 45 overs, it's been hard work, but they've hit a few fours lately.

Congrats to Warne for getting his 700th wicket and another 5 wicket haul courtesy of England. Amazing achievement and a shame that hes retiring but what a way to end off a brilliant career. Excellent stuff by the greatest spin bowler of all time \0/.

As for England??...159?? is that all you could manage...a couple of words...you TRULY SUCK!!!...seriously what an utter utter shambles again....hell my uncles sunday team could beat England right now the way they are playing:p...Strauss was the only one who made a decent score and unfortunately he was Warne;s 700th victim lol...not exactly a record id be wanting to have hehe. But what a pathetic display by England yet again...even winning the toss they cant seem to make it count. Feel sorry for all those English fans that travelled half way across the world to see England keep getting royally ass spanked by the Aussies.
Will be interesting to see how the English bowlers play later tonight, i guess getting 2 quick wickets was a bit of a result but then getting Lee out was no big deal tbh and Langer has been more or less a flop in this series....If Ponting goes cheaply then your in there with a shout but then you have Hussey and M Clarke to contend with...oops not forgetting Gilchrist who managed to hit the 2nd quickest century in history...so England have their work cut out thats for sure...could be an interesting match with Monty bowling as well...

Still reckon the Aussies will win this, England im sorry to say havent got the will nor desire to win any of the ashes tests...i think the Aussies have well and truly psyched them out of the series...god knows how the ODI's will turn out....

murali has 150 odd wickets or so against 2nd class teams like zimbabwe so no doubt he will go past warne. his performance today was fantastic and consistently shows why he is the best spin bowler of our time, maybe all time.

once again a bad effort from england, a low score with 2 dropped catches, missed run outs (stupid running) and a stumping, you would have been lucky to make 100 due to the sloppy fielding. probably the wrong decision to bat also but thats really not much of an excuse. apart from a few good balls from freddie and some close lbw from hoggard you cant really take much out of today at all, the day belonged totally to warne who one again pwned you guys.

5 - 0 is looking more and more of an end result.

I was so close to not bothering tonight, but I'm glad I did and I'd like to see us finishing them off for no more than 175, as I think we could get a similar score in our second innings.

That score may be obtainable by ONE batsman, as of writing (6.05 AM):

M L Hayden not out 150  and A Symonds is on 130......

i can see you guys getting bowled out again cheaply, we may not bat again. too bad as you guys bowled very well early on, just cant string a few sessions together.

Dear oh dear oh dear :(, England yet again cannot take advantage of the situation can they??. They had the Aussies on the ropes but yet again cant seem to finish the job off....Hayden and Symmonds both with centuries with Symmonds still sitting there pretty...I honestly thought with Ponting, Hussey, M Clarke and even Gilchrist gone cheaply that England would have taken the opportunity to really make the Aussies pay but sadly they couldnt. Saying that though not a bad bowling performance considering...even Mahmood got a few wickets as well..about time that flop did something useful lol.

153 and 154 by Hayden and Symmonds, awesome batting by the both of them and about time Symmonds did something useful...although i still think hes more suited to the ODI game rather than tests...bit like Afridi tbh. Poor Monty couldnt even get a wicket, would have thought he would have been able to bowl the Aussies out just like Warne did but seems not.

Looks odds on for another Aussie win...

England can't string a couple of good sessions together and that's the main problem.

It could so easily have been different, Hayden should have been out on the first day and if we'd knocked over Symonds before lunch then approaching the afternoon session the mindset would have been entirely different.

We're not playing badly for the most part, the convicts are simply the better side. They've got world-class players who have experience on their side, we've a mixture of good players and youngsters.

Monty was never going to take a wicket on that pitch yesterday, it was entirely different to what I saw Warne bowl on in our first innings.

Of course it doesn't help our bowling plans were leaked but it was nothing revolutionary - the thing that irks me is that it's typical convict behaviour.

5-0 wouldn't shock me but we do have a habit of winning in Sydney, so I'll cling to that hope.

anyone that honestly thought england stood a chance of retaining the ashes are quite frankly delusional!

Took you this long to come out with that wisdom eh? Well, we should have at least drawn the Adelaide match and have had the Aussies on the ropes for short times after Brisbane. The Aussies have been too good this series, although by letting our foot off the gas we really haven't helped ourselves.

In better news, Alistair Cook has become the first English batsman and only the second in test history to reach 1000 runs in his first year of test cricket. The boy will be special, and yes I know he'll be out next ball now :p

jeez, just got hit on the pads by a yorker, not out but i really should shut up!!!
