Asked for daughters hand over email...

Is it still the done thing to ask the father such a thing? I've known a lot of people to get engaged to be married and no one's ran it past the father to date?

I thought it was like an old American practice. Y'know, like the movies?:D

You have more fail than you find in a fail factory.

I hope you dont have any say in the wedding or evening reception plans if this is anything to go by.

But I can see this making an appearance in the farther of the brides speach.

I would personaly have chosen to cut my balls off in front of him.

Would have had the same effect but have made much better thread.

.....Don't breed.

What a terrible, terrible idea. Regardless of what he says, he's going to think a damn sight less of you than he did before you chose to email (!) him asking for his daughter's hand in marriage. Jesus man, what were you thinikng?

This thread is unbelievable; if you have to ask whether it was a good thing to do you yourself clearly have your doubts. I think your method was both disrespectful and lazy.
