Why is the UK plc going after Assange?
It would have MUCH wider repercussions other than upsetting Ecuador. It would destroy our international status with most/all countries.
The threats to enter were just that, threats, designed to try and scare them to kick him out. They called our bluff. As much as I believe we should be able too get him out as they are harbouring a suspected rapist, we're not going in any time soon and rightly so.
It's REALLY frustrating, but that's just the way it is.

I find it somewhat ironic that supporters of Assange aren't too bothered about getting to the bottom of the truth when it comes to allegations made against him!
The morons 'cheering' for him outside of the embassy must be insane.
Guy is a self deluded, arrogant, **** then?
I agree with this, it was nothing more than a) a scare tactic, b) showing we are trying to uphold the laws we are bound to.It would have MUCH wider repercussions other than upsetting Ecuador. It would destroy our international status with most/all countries.

No more insane than those on the other side of the fence calling for his head.
Who is calling for his head, if there are rape charges against him he should stand trial for them, surely?
Or should he get a free pass?

Correct me if i am wrong but the rape charge was dropped and only after the Wikileaks furore was he charged again?
There are no official charges. They were dropped. Which has been pointed out throughout this thread. But apparently people on the side that want his head, can't get that into their own head.

If there are no charges, why doesn't he leave...
Why would Sweden be trying to stitch him up?
Leave where? The embassy? To be snatched by the British police, extradited to Sweden and held until the American's have compiled their kangaroo court evidence where they'll sentence him to life inside some of the most brutal prisons in the world, for daring to expose the criminal behaviour of the US military in the middle east?
Uh oh, there's that 'tin foil hat' agenda...
I think it's pretty important for whistle-blowing to be allowed, wikileaks have gone about it the wrong way though by releasing pretty much everything even if there is nothing dodgy going on.
