Assange to go!

I think it's pretty important for whistle-blowing to be allowed, wikileaks have gone about it the wrong way though by releasing pretty much everything even if there is nothing dodgy going on.

Can't agree, like A lot of journlism laws, it should be within certain rules and you can brake them and be punished. Even in media there isn't a you can say whatever you want without consequence.
Wiki leaks was awful and there was no need for mass publishing of everything, without names removed. They should all be up on charges, in any country they are in. Shouldn't even have to deport them.

It could be worse, I could fall into the ignorant fool brigade who think we should just storm into other nations embassys and sort everything out that way.

I've already said that, on reflection, that would be a bad idea.

Your idea of blindly defending a clearly deluded man, who is facing rape charges, is far more disturbing.

A single footstep by UK authorities into that embassy will be seen as an attack on Ecuador.

Thing is you can't take everything at face value, especially when it comes to diplomatic situations like this.
There's a lot of threats and appearing to do all you can to uphold the law.

Apparently there is an "insurance file" which you can download from Wikileaks or a torrent. It's more than 1gb big. It's password protected so no one can open it. However should anything happen to Assange or Wikileaks those people involved will release the password to the file in the public domain.

Apparently the file "changes" everything.

:-/

Well it's probably just all the submitted data uncensored, it take years for them to process anything so I imagine there is a lot of information in there that has never been seen before.
I don't think it would ever be considered to be released until he is facing death or a long prison sentence.

Hence my earlier comment.

But if information wants to be 'free' and it is important that such information is made 'free' then surely by keeping it hidden he is betraying the very cause he claims to champion and is complicit in hiding the truth from the masses. If the file changes everything surely it should be released now?

Leave where? The embassy? To be snatched by the British police, extradited to Sweden and held until the American's have compiled their kangaroo court evidence where they'll sentence him to life inside some of the most brutal prisons in the world, for daring to expose the criminal behaviour of the US military in the middle east?

I think you have this case confused with another one - he's wanted on a sexual assault charge, not by the Americans.

I would have thought that would be hacked by now in a hex editor.

Not to mention that a password protected file openly available on the Internet with such alleged juicy material would not have been cracked wide open by now.....
