Assassins Creed 3: American Revolution

Found my first problem after reaching Boston, got to kill soldiers using only a gun but after killing a couple of them I can't now get him to take out the gun to shoot soldiers on the roof who are shooting at me, I can pick up a musket but can't use that either. At one point I couldn't draw my sword either, I think it's a keyboard remapping problem, several times some of my keyboard settings have reverted to default.

You will find this problem also occurs when you are in the trees, sometimes it works others it wont. Had to jump to another branch in order for this to work with either gun or bow.

I just get unplayable stutter always. High FPS but huge stutter every 2-3 seconds. All settings at minimum or high its the same.

Although I'm getting annoying gameplay malfunctions I'm not getting any graphic glitches or stuttering as yet & my PC is now somewhat outdated, playing on all High settings with Q6600 & Nvidia GTX580

Not sure how most of you guys have bought the game, but I somewhat caved and purchased a retail copy earlier seeing as I got paid today and because I have no idea when or if it will be available on Steam (I actually own all Assassin's Creed games but only the first one on Steam).

Hopefully my ageing GTX470 can cope because I've read that it's a fairly demanding game (be it unoptimised or otherwise)!

Finished it about an hour ago.

Really enjoyed it, there is a lot of content if you strive to do a lot of it, but if you blitz the main story you'll probably be looking at around 20 hours of gaming.

Personally the voice acting from Connor was terrible, the bugs and animations at time where amateur at best, the hunting aspect was pointless and so was the trading and assassins guild stuff.

I managed to go through the entire of the game with the weapons you get from the beginning, never upgraded, constantly countered enemies, there was no challenge from the combat.

And since when did they remove the "Assassin" from the game? Everytime i went to kill a key target it was hardly stealthy or worth of an assassin. Just felt they created a 3rd person action game as opposed to a 3rd person stealth assassin action game.

The story was interesting, but it reminded me of a B rate movie, add a lot of fluff, worlds going to end, poor plot writing, just add special effects.

The ship combat was brilliant, i really enjoyed that a lot, though once you upgraded the ship you became pretty much unstoppable.

Overall i'd put this probably 2nd to last or last in the series:

Ass 1
Ass 2
Revelations
Ass 3

In that order, ironically as the series progresses the quality seems to be diminishing.

Hopefully they'll let this series go now and let it be, not too sure they can milk much more out of the series with the damage that has been wrought by this instalment.

Again, just goes to show, you should never listen to review sites.

Ok disabling crossfire didnt help. Buy physically removing a card did. Its stutter free with a single 5870. Enjoying it somewhat but its not a patch on the others. What ever happened to being an actual assassin?

P.S. Dont waste your time with rooftops.

Hmm not to trawl through 14 pages of chat (I checked the last 3 pages) but I cant get mine to work. I got a key with my new gfx card and registered it fine on the ubi website, downloaded it via their launcher thing. When I go to play it asks me to put in my cd key or activation code. I've tried both multiple times and it wont accept them. Any ideas?

*edit
actually my bad. They sent me a 3rd code with the last email! God why do they have to be so damn awkward...

Played a bit more last night, which resulted in nothing but frustration. Connor meets old man, they goto town for supplies....next thing I know I am numero uno and every guard wants my head and can detect me even though I am well hidden. The guards sometimes remind me of the ones in Morrowind.

I am well over an hour into the game and it is still feeding me tutorials, and scripted goto xyz events everwhere. Wtf do I get some classic AC freedom that we're all used to?

I want to play the game but just end up giving up at every turn. Tempted to just replay Revelations and leave it at that.

The huge intro lasts about 3 hours, for me anyway. Thats including all of Haythams bit.

Here's a part of a post from another forum:-

Now, to fix the frame rate issues in Boston, you'll have to take to the 'Assassin3.ini' file that you will find in your documents under the Assassin's Creed III folder. By default the game has vsync turned on and has the refresh rate at 60Hz. Now vsync is the main culprit for the low FPS it seems as turning it off near doubled my FPS from 30 into the 60s. To do this, simply change Vsync=1 to Vsync=0.

The refresh rate is down to your monitor, of course. If you have a 60Hz monitor then by all means just save the config and set it to read only (IMPORTANT) and enjoy the game. If you are like myself and have the luxury of a 120Hz monitor then you may also have been experiencing FPS drops due to the game putting you down to 60Hz. I don't understand how this affects the framerate but altering it seemed to fix me. Simply change RefreshRate=60 to RefreshRate=120 and save the file. Set it to read only otherwise the game will default all your settings again.

If you have a processor that has hyperthreading (I have a 2600K for reference) then be sure to disable that in your BIOS as it has been reported that the game really dislikes it and will cause your FPS to absolutely tank in Boston also. I can't give you specific guides on this as it's obviously down to your motherboard.

im at the same point

the opera bit was ace
liked the ship at the start
was just getting into hatham and then...

bored of being a kid running about doing nothing
then 25 de-syncs in boston was getting boring so stopped for the night

hope it gets better again soon! need classic AC acition!

My reply from CJS-Cdkeys regarding my allready used extra content.

Hi sir, our belief is that you only activate once. #when you activate, it activates the whole deluxe items. The only thing that's not included is the season pass. The 'second step' of activation is only for activating the season pass, which we dont include
