Assassins Creed 3: American Revolution

Well, Finished the story and have to say the ending was depressing and quite disappointing really.

Worst of the series in all honesty.
Held your hand for far too long and overall it just was not as fun as the previous games.

My god this game is awful... So Boring and so many bugs. By far the worst of the series yet...
Have to agree. Just way too many 'issues' and bugs all over the damn place. Connor is about as likeable as a haystack and don't get me started on the pathetic mapping/mini map. I can't even work up the urge to play the game with the weekend here :/

Just got the game today in the post as Amazon is **** with games for me, and im finding this game quite annoying. Firstly why carnt I aim from a distace with a gun, im pressing f then q to go to the shoot mode on top of a building and its like nope but if im close it will let me shoot, which is irritating. Secondly what the **** are all those white lines that rotate around things noting in the hud options gets rid of them. Thirdly the options menu is so **** its unavailable, it wont let me select a resolution above 1280x720 when my monitor is at 1920x1080 -_- (I have changed it in the ini file but still is annoying) . Finally why carnt I choose a target my guy just flings himself all over the place when attacking (twice to his death), apparently F locks onto things but that's bull. Oh and the map is awful and the menu controls

You can't shoot things at long ranges, you can manual aim but if the target isnt in range, nothing will happen.

I've never even bothered to use a targetting lock in this game, no enemy stays alive long enough and i'm generally getting attacked by more than one enemy at a time so i'm always countering. Pushing in the direction of the enemy I want to kill works well enough for me. I have to agree the menu controls are awful :P.

I had no problems selecting my resolution (1600*900) even though its not full hd. I've not tried using kb+mouse but i'm getting on fine using a wired 360 pad which might make things a bit easier.

Not true, I got to sequence 10 before completing the first blacksmith quests, then all hell broke loose and ended up with tons of homestead quests.

Thats alright then, it's just what I read and I couldn't verify it myself, I didn't want people to miss out on missions. I shall remove the quoted text.

Ubisoft have done a pretty good job with making the PC version of this game significantly better than its console sibling. That isn't to say the PC version of any game isn't better, but the fact that all textures (as far as I've seen anyway) are high resolution and the game runs well (among other things) is enough for me to tip my hat off to them.

So far I'd also say it's my favourite Assassin's Creed game in terms of gameplay and setting, so I think it's certainly worth a punt if you're a fan of the previous instalments.

id say its ok
its not as good as the previous ones, ill sum it up:

good
environment is amazing, really busy streets etc, very atmospheric
graphics are very good
controls make more sense now
some of the big battle scenes are incredible
naval stuff is really good too, excellent side game
excellent voice acting
fighting is really good

bad
Conner is not a very exciting character, no flair at all (like Ezio, and at least Altair is was a badass)
too much full on cut scenes, AC was always good for having cutsceney bits while you are still in control, this one has far to much pre-rendered stuff (like your outfit goes back to the default one in every cut scene ???)
not good side missions - assassinations are just stab some random bloke in the street, you don't even have to travel to get to them from where you pick up the mission,
not much to do if you are not doing the main quest,
naval stuff as nothing to do with being an assassin whatsoever!
not very much being stealthy assassin stuff going on either, just a few random missions strung together for the most part
frustrating missions where it doesn't tell you what to do and then punishes you for trying something different - i get desyncronised at least once or twice per mission because of this

tldr : its an excellently made engine / environment with not very much content / fun to go with it (bearing in mind I have not encountered the bugs people seem to be having yet)

I guess they spent a lot of time on the new engine and not much on the adventure part ?

Yay!!! I'm finally Connor haha, I didn't mind that hand holding part at all, spent loads of time exploring hehe.

Still love it!!! Right, 5 more hours left before I have to put the controller down.

I have played all the titles so far is this game worth getting or is it another pointless continuation ?

It's not a pointless continuation as it progresses Desmonds story a fair bit, introduces new characters etc. I think it's worth a purchase but theres a pretty mixed opinion of this game on the boards.

Revelations is still the worst in the series for me.

either you have low expectations or just easily pleased. I will admit so far I am enjoying playing it, but It feels rushed and put together for a quick console money maker.

the game is poorly coded (which is nothing unusual all the others were too, and most pc games from console are anyway), you look at the texture of distance objects when at the boston port and it looks like ps2 graphics. Also at the start when you're on the ship you go back to his quarters and he takes out the medallion and theres a closeup of his fingers holding it,, the graphics at this point are absolute garbage,

Only been playing for 30 mins but seems ok so far..

I'll agree the graphics look a bit hazy at distances -- that's probably the worst thing about the game from a purely aesthetic point of view -- but to say they look "PS2" is just mean. :p In terms of gameplay, it's certainly no worse than previous games. Assassin's Creed was a good game when it first came out, but Assassin's Creed II made you realise how mundane and repetitive it was. Brotherhood was also good, but if there was any game in the series that felt like a quick cash grab, it would have to be Revelations. That isn't to say Revelations was a terrible game, but it didn't add enough to be enjoyable - I literally had to force myself to finish Revelations; I just didn't find it engaging in slightest (not to mention I wasn't a fan of the setting). But with Assassin's Creed III, I'm enjoying the settings, the gameplay tweaks (to things like free-running and combat, despite it being insultingly easy now), and the new mechanics (both combat and environmental). Overall it's a solid game.
