Assassin's Creed IV- Black Flag

I could barely tell any difference at all, though I thought 4xmsaa, which I settled on, was a fair bit better than FXAA. I am getting sick of all these different AA types!

I know what you mean, they are driving me insane :p

I can't tell any difference with most of them, apart from the fps loss/gain.

My game keeps going through this process every time I load it. It plays fine when it's loaded, cloud saves are ok. Just a pain, it seem's like it never actually fully installed. Any ideas?

Have now settled on 2xeqaa which leaves the game at 60fps and takes away any jaggies that i can notice. God rays go a little weird on occasion. AMD really need to support this in a driver release. A 7990 should be achieving more!

This is probably a really dumb question, but does the steam version actually boot through steam, or will the steam version just be a shortcut to the uPlay launcher? Ideally i'd like to avoid uPlay if i can

Can someone tell me how I add ships to my fleet?

When I board a ship I only get the option to repair the Jackdaw?

Game Informer has noted that if you don’t have or don’t enter a uPlay Passport code that is bundled with new copies of the game, you will not have the option to add a ship to your fleet when you take it. Thus, you can’t send them off on automated missions to earn some extra loot as you play. When you do this, you have the option of having friends help you move the missions along, but you can do them completely solo if you wanted to. That’s not the worst thing I’ve ever heard of, but it does make borrowing the game from your buddy a little less of a promising concept, which I assume was the point of doing this — online passes are there to encourage you to buy your own new copy of the game.

Hi guys, new member here :)

I am having a lot of performance issues with AC4 black flag, the fps bounces all over the place and its very jarring. I have tried the D3DOverider trick, adjusting graphic settings, disable crossfire etc but I still get frame drops (unless out at sea). My spec is as follows:

Asus crosshair formula Z
FX9590 8 core
HD7990 6gb
16gb 2133 DDR3
128gb Samsung 840 ssd
1TB Western digital caviar black
OCZ 1250w PSU

I though this PC would run this game with ease at 1080p 60hz, Any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

Have you tried lowering environment quality? That can make a huge difference.

Thank you for your quick reply! I fiddled with a few settings but cant remember which ones now. What AA settings would suggest in combination with lower environment quality? Also would you know if crossfire is supported yet as I have not seen a profile for it?

Really appreciate your help!

Environment quality has the biggest impact on performance for me. Try setting it to low and see if you can live with less vegetation (you'll lose some grass and bushes), but should notice a considerable boost. I'm not sure if the vsync issue has been fixed yet, but if you have vsync enabled, try loading the game, ctrl-alt-del to desktop, and then go back into the game - your frame rate should be considerably more stable. For me it was the difference between frame rates occasionally dropping to 30 rather than occasional dropping to the mid 50s and was night and day.
