Assassin's Creed IV- Black Flag

Still downloading at 200-500k here. Only 24+hrs to go.

I always experience slow download speeds on UPlay.

I find if you stop the download and restart it keep the speed up seems to max out for a few mins then goes down to 100k-200k but if I stop the download and restart it download is like 12meg a sec for 3-5mins bit of a pain but what can we do :)

Hopefully fighting isn't as finicky as it was in AC3 - by far the worst title of the entire franchise, with the dullest characters bar Connors father to date. The hype seems to gone completely flat for the series now as very little gamers even knew it was out yesterday and I haven't seen much talks in gaming forums about the game.

I'll hopefully get a chance to play it tonight. It'll be interesting to see where the main Abstergo/Templar-Assassin storyline goes with this release.

Boring tailing missions, climbing the wrong thing, being spotted due to the poor controls, etc. Just the same gameplay quirks that AC games have always had. They don't ruin the game just worth being aware of. I've not encountered any technical issues although performance isn't totally smooth (4670k/7970) but it's not really a problem for this type of game.

Does the game have AC3's same pathetic hold-your-hands missions that restrict your ability to creatively approach mission annoyances by any chance? The hand holding lasted for absolutely ages were one of many issues that ruined the previous game for me.

I think that's in large part to it's earlier console release, so everyone that couldn't wait had already picked it up for their console.

I find the whole pirate theme a lot of fun. Overall I definitely rate it up there with the better games in the series.

Boycott UPlay for a start. Never had good download speeds with it even though I'm on 120mbit through VM.

Does as you said, ramping up to 850k max, then drops down to 100-200k, ramps back up to 800k, etc...

Oh well, only 8hrs to go.

Would like to try this but will wait until it comes down in price on steam, no interest in breaking up my digital collection across other platforms.

Awsome game to be honest. One of my favourites in a while.
The only things i don't like are the real world parts...whats the point? It takes you completely out of the game and its annoying as hell when all you want to do is get back in carry on the missions/story!

The tailing missions....They where okay for a while but by the 10th one they become very annoying and boring.
Apart from those bits the game is really great.

I'm a bit apprehensive bout this now tbh. It is a Ubisoft game after all!....I just know I am going to rage the first time the game kills me for no reason, and the ludicrous 'desynchronisation' message appears:mad:

:p

Just a heads up...i have a 690gtx and was getting about 25fps with everything on highest at 1440p! I then downloaded latest nvidia drivers and now get 60fps with lowest drop i seen to 50. I would seriously recommend downloading them.

Just got an email from Uplay saying:

Dear Customer,*Thanks for your pre-order on Uplay shop. We notice that your game has not been automatically activated in Uplay PC.*We apologize for the inconvenience and we would like you to enjoy the best Assassin’s Creed IV® Black Flag experience. To do this we have upgraded your version from the Digital Special Edition to the Digital Uplay Deluxe Edition.*

This was for a copy I got with my Nvidia graphics card.
Anyone else get this email?

Assassin's Creed 4 producer says PC optimisation isn't important

On PC, usually you don't really care about the performance, because the idea is that if it's not [running] fast enough, you buy a bigger GPU

lol thats nasty

http://www.videogamer.com/pc/assass...ucer_says_pc_optimisation_isnt_important.html

Not sure if that is aimed as being a "nasty" line as you missed out the start and end and I also feel that the article missed took him a little. I think what he was getting at was that the game needs to be optimized for the next gen consoles where as on PC (obviously the better version graphically) you need a big GPU to run it at it's best and that pc's being upgradable you can achieve this. If the game was designed to use for example an 8800GT as the max type of card for the game then that sort of evades the point.

just my 2 cents on it :)

Apologies if this has been asked before. If you purchase this from the rainforset do you simply receive an activation code for Uplay? I can see no mention on the website, or is that as this is a given these days?

Hi,

I was just wondering what Anti Aliasing people are using?

I'm guessing this is totally over the top, but I've been using CSAA 8x (16x).

It looks stunning and runs at max settings at 45fps+ so can't complain.

But, does anyone recommend using a different AA?

Cheers
