Assassin's Creed Odyssey

I should have stated that my comments above comparing the two are based with me in my low Lv30's, and I've still a lot of islands to visit. Whereas I recently completed Origin's and it's DLC's a good few months ago.

My only concern is that I will reach the level cap with many quests left to complete (at least in Origins you could keep levelling up, albeit only gaining tiny percentages to your stats).

I think that will definitely happen, I'm in my 30s and still got an absolute ton of stuff left to do, I'm 100% certain to hit level cap long before completion. Unless they put in some sort of AA system.

Yes, suspect I will be level 50 with more then 50% of game to go, am level 40 and only completed 16% of the game according to ubisoft , not started main mission, or most side quests, only really cleaned out question marks on about 2/5 of the map, few radient quests, about 6 of those big battles and that daily quest for orc. Those few radiant quests with the timer seem to offer obscene amount of XP for some reason, normally for a mission of just delivering an item 200m away.

From reviews I've watched it's more of the same with a tweaked combat system but you hit a wall around level 12 - 16 that stops you progressing the main story as you need to do sidequests to level up (this seems to be the big thing reviewers have moaned about)
That has sort of happened to me but I wouldn't describe it as hitting a wall, it is just obviously time to go exploring more back in the lower level areas.
Also have a significant issue with being bad at parrying which I need to work on.

Finally got my Snake set and it looks epic. 30h in and still so much to do:eek: Can't believe a game that dwarfs many other titles is going to get two major expansions and more free content.

And still don't understand the grind complaints, maybe it's true if you rush, in which case the game just isn't for you, as I'm playing on hard and already level 21with only a fraction of the game complete.

Really enjoying Sokrates' banter, it's spot-on:D Also all the other historical figures as well:p

Yeah, Aristophanes is so cocky here:D They've done a very nice job with these characters.

Also getting Euripides drunk and singing with them both:D

Ubi have really stepped up their game IMO, it's a big, beautiful title and it's good they're actually fixing things relatively soon.

AC games wouldn't be so special without their amazing settings and Ubi are the best at that. Still fairly wary of them as a company but I can't say I'm not enjoying this, actually more than any other RPG in the last couple of years.

46hrs in and Lv37 now so I thought I'd take a break from helping the denizens of Greece out and sail to other islands and also hit Crete in the bottom right corner of the map where you're told to go early in the game.

I expected rough seas and weather Black Flag style but saw nothing of the sort annoyingly enough. I did come across one MAJOR issue that revealed huge spoilers as I approached an island. Going into map view and looking at the island for viewpoints revealed screenshots from other players.

Ubisoft already restrict the ingame photo mode from certain important game events but this should have been added to it.

Something Caldera, just NW from Crete.

Not my usual type If game I admit, tried Origins but found there was too much grinding with little reward and combat was appalling .Quite like Odyssey and find the combat a little better though the absence of a shield is puzzling.my biggest gripe is fighting that boar which for me was ridiculously and unnecessarily hard in fact i installed and used a trainer.
As this is not my usual type of game I do not understand the weapons stats, what engraving does or what upgrades to buy. I am sure I should be doing stuff with the ship to make fights a little less one sided would be useful.
The lack of explanation of what to do or where to go with some of the challenges picked up from the message boards is a pain.

Overall whereas I got bored with Origins this is still fun so will stay with it.

To fight the Boar you really need to use the bow with as much hunter addons as you can get, and the devastating arrow with the supershot ability as well. Takes him down pretty easily.

I do so love this type of comment which ignores most of my comments about my lack of understanding in weapon upgrades, engraving etc and then goes on to say how easy it is to kill it.

In terms of weapon stats, generally speaking, if an arrow has a green item its better then your currently equipped item in the primary stat (damage for weapons, armor for stats), but that is only one side of the equation. The other is engraving which in effect adds on a trait. Most weapons already come with traits (or pre assigned engravings I suppose) and the idea the augment your play style. So if your someone who prefers a warrior build and gets into the thick of it, you may want a warrior engraving and then add on any engravings which boost stats in those areas, so + extra armor engraving, + extra health and so on and so forth. If your a Bow and Arrow kind of guy, your engravings may make more sense to go for hunter, Bow damage and so on. You get new engravings by finding and completing puzzles and levelling up. Also getting legendary items confers the engraving bonus to your list.

This may mean you make more choices when it comes to weapons. So suppose you warrior play style and have a level 26 sword with warrior engraving and few others and received a level 28 sword with a Assassin enchantment. While that level 28 Sword may on its own do more damage by virtue of being a higher level, overall may make more sense to keep the level 26 sword thanks to the engravings.

In terms of upgrades, do not bother upgrading your weapons and armour, similarly, do not buy from the vendors. Just pick up new ones as you go along as you get so many from completing things. You level so often and get new items that no point spending money and resource into upgrading until the end for weapons you really like. Save the resource and money for the ship.

I have purchased a 500GB 970 EVO M2 SSD that comes with this game for free, looking forward to trying it out, looks good from the videos and reviews I've seen. I hate the idea of micro transactions though so I'm going to grind it out instead.

Dont worry about the microtransaction articles, thats just pure fake news. Just play the game, do the content (dont even need to do all of it) and you'll level up perfectly fine.
