Assassin’s Creed Origins

Assassin's Creed games have always been cpu dependant games.

It's also another example how the old school i5's (4 cores) are on the way out. And that multicore CPUs are definitely useful for gaming now.

Took it's time. And things like DX12 haven't really taken off yet.

Can only think of one game that ran well in DX12 and that was Gears of War 4.

Picked this up earlier with my xmas money, only spent 30 min so far and it runs like a charm, combat feels more like TW3 than the last AC game I played which I can see making me enjoy this more.

Without being too spoilerific, could someone please give me an estimation of how far through the main story I am? I only have the crocodile left to kill.

The last target does constitute a fair few quests, although I did kill one target out of order at the end (which may be normal?).

Fired it up again this morning and playing away, had 2 hard crashes for the first time since I built my current rig. It's demanding for sure wonder if it's my PSU starting to give the ghost up.

Still enjoying playing however the AI for NPC when your on a horse in town leaves plenty to be desired.

Does upping the resolution take any load off the CPU? It really is smooth until i get to Alexandria but then i notice a slowdown. That is running maxed though at 1440p

I5 7600k 4.2
16G Ram
GTX1080

My 24 core 1920X says no! The game engine is laggy above 1920x1080 due to poor PC optimisation & DRM. Best option for smoother FPS is turn AA to Adaptive & try to hit a constant 30FPS with vsync disabled or set to adaptive. There is not a single PC in the world capable of playing this at a constant 60FPS with max graphics!

My i5 says different. At 4k I'm using only 80% cpu vs 100% at 1080p!

4k - Note increased GPU usage and temp + lower FR.

1080p - Note lower GPU usage but 100% CPU + FR.

Put some time in over the weekend and just finished Memphis off and everything before it (minus the sphinx quest) , the side quests are a step up from previous games and feels more like TW3, I hit 30 and not even half way through the game yet due to doing all ? and side quests on the map.

I haven't entered the hippodrome racing yet.

Did you try reducing the available cores as suggested? 24-cores aren't much use in games, your CPU just isn't a very good for gaming. My 5820k ticks along at 60% usage at 60fps most of the time.

Would people recommend this game ? really want to give it a blast.

I haven't played any AC game since the second and this has had me put some serious hours in over weekend and enjoy most of it (there's a few side quests that are bit gash) but overall it feels like I'm playing TW3 in ancient Egypt.

Average CPU usage on my 1700 is 70-80% surprised as this is only one of a handful of games that actually uses cores.

I haven't fully finished installing this yet. But within Uplay the 'play' button is active. I haven't been able to escape the first area without it crashing in the same exact place each time.

Is this related to my unfinished install?
Running 4970K @4.4
1080ti
4k

Thanks,
