Assetto Corsa Competizione

Ummmm I can't remember, 8th I think.

I was watching you David during practice and the controller really isn't helping you one bit.

The steering and throttle isn't smooth enough at all to be competitive. It's almost everything or nothing rather than smooth and progressive.

I honestly would suggest getting a wheel as soon as you can and even use a playseat challenge if room is a issue

Yeah I think it's going to be next on the list, just waiting for the wife to calm down from my recent purchases xbox series x, Laptop and ps4 pro:p
But your right the steering is so Jerky, it is a little smoother on xbox maybe optimised for console I don't know

Yeah its certainly not going to help you one bit thats for sure. You are probably right about the controls for Xbox, they may have been dampened as the majority would use a pad. Do try and take the wife out for dinner or something to put here mind at rest when you spank £300+ on a setup :D

I mainly did just normal online lobbies and a few single player races against the ai.

But for the more organised races we were doing it through 'Race Department'. They have most racing games covered and they are all in their own section. Once you have the premium membership you can link your Steam and discord account with the forum and then you get link to a simracing.gp website.

You do have to be a premium member however but it's only about £12.50 a year.

I did my first race on it on Thursday and it was absolutely brilliant.

This. Race dept is amazing. As is simracing go. Which gives you access to lots of communities at all levels. I race on rwb racing. And they have aliens and beginners. The racing is fair and excellent.

So have a look at race department, simracinggp and rwbracing. You will find a real mix of lobbies and championships

Just ordered a Playseat evolution.

I have the Playseat challenge currently with my wheel bolted to the desk. I know the evolution isnt the best out there but it's an utter ball ache assembling and disassembling the wheel / pedals ever single time at the moment.

It just means I can leave the wheel and pedals mounted to the evolution and kind of pack it away. The house isn't ideal for anything so the evolution is a compromise with the boss as it still sort of folds up..

I've heard about some potential issues with the evolution and have already thought of potential fixes if it turns out worse than I think.

Anyway. Brands on Thursday, really looking forward to it, anyone else entering ?

Ok so as i first thought.

As it stands without modification, the Playseat evolution isnt really suitable for Load cell pedals, and to some degree the Clubsport 2.5 wheelbase. I have modified the playseat using a series of bolts, rods and u profiles and its acceptable now. But i was a ball ache, every "improvement" shown a weakspot elsewhere. The plus side now is that its the absolute best it can be with minimal flex anywhere..... and it folds up where i can store it.

Anyway, any of you lot entered for tonight at brands 7pm ?

Missed out last night, things got late and only had 30 minutes to practice before they started. Looking at the times i probably should have gone for it, only those two Bentleys were quicker than what i was posting taking the easy option in the Aston.

Renewed my sub with RD yesterday though, so i'll be racing again sometime when things get a little less hectic at work.

Yeah it was good fair racing again. Really impressed with the etiquette of fellow racers and it's soooooo much better than public lobbies. In so glad to be involved with this. Some really quick guys last night, no idea how they go that fast tbh.

Anyone here who plays online lobbies really should get involved with the community racing on Race department or elsewhere.

I have a Quest 2 I use connected via USB for VR. I have the G923 which adds the extra sensation of engine vibration and braking vibes. I did have a Thrustmaster before and I do find the G923 much more immersive. I use bonnet cam and this I find is the best view but you can see behind you very well or at all and have to rely on the track overview to the left.

Played Monza last night, was first all the way up to the 2nd to last lap where someone behind me hit me in a corner and took me off. I ended up 4th.

Was Tm wheel did you have? I'm suspired you found the Logitech better.

See my post above #530

If you give me an hour or so I'll give you more of an idea of the faff with the Playseat evolution. It's ok now but it too a lot of messing about.

As for setup.

Fanatec V2.5 clubsport base
Fanatec Formula V2 rim.
Fanatec CSL elite LC pedals.

I originally had the thrustmaster t300 wheel which I had for about 4 years and it was brilliant. I highly recommend it as a start. But the pedals are not that good, but I think they are better now ?

Knocked up a custom rig at work four years ago, tailored to my measurements. For the price of a £50 sparco bucket from the bay one of the best things i ever did, well over 1000 hours and still rocking. Bolted on a TS-PC, T3PA pro's, and one of those thrustmaster gated shifters that never gets used. As a luddite with no knowledge of a direct drive wheel i'm happy say the TS is great, but i know there's gains to be had if i upgrade the pedals, i am at that stage now where a load cell makes the difference as a competent racer.

I keep trying to convince myself that a motion rig isn't out of reach, it'll happen one day hopefully with the recently announced incoming YAW 2 kickstarter project.

On a side note i signed up on simracing.gp tonight for the kyalami event racing as D.Dearman. Tracking up 50 racers, it's going to be fantastic.
