Assetto Corsa

How, do you need a russian steam user to send you it or something ?

You buy TF2 keys. Think I paid 8 keys. They cost me no more than 1.30 each. You add the guy. He offers to trade, you trade keys and him the game. Job done. Bought this for 10 odd and paid 13 quid for dead rising 3

Still loving this game from a physics and driving standpoint. It feels so good on the G27 and the force feedback is the best iv felt in a game. The only downside for me is after playing grid autosport a game that's basically an updated previous gen game the lighting and track details and backgrounds are really lacking in this game. They look so much better in grid. The only thing graphics wise this game excels at for me is the car models. The skyboxes and landscapes are very poor though and the HDR is poorly done aswell.
I hope the graphical updates there including soon will help with those.

While the driving is great, graphics really do help with the immersion and its one of the things that I find myself drooling over when looking at project cars and driveclub.

Can't believe it. Bought this only discover my graphics card isnt compatible :(

What is your graphics card?

AC is designed around DirectX11, but it can be ran on dx10 cards, albeit with "square" trees.

Steam\steamapps\common\assettocorsa\system\cfg\dx11.ini

ALLOW_UNSUPPORTED_DX10=1

It's a Geforce GTX 275. I get a message up saying it's not compatible as i need DX10.1

Ah nice one. Will give those a go tomorrow.

so been playing a bit of iracing not too long ago but a mate and myself saw this come up on the steam sale so talked eachother into buying it :p

first thoughts..... my god the default set up (difficulty/assist wise) is horrible! mostly due to it auto shifting for me xD was a bit of a shock. that and the god awful stability/traction/whatever..... full throttle in second... starts to wheel spin and tries to change gear, but then another system cuts the power a bit to stop the spin and then you stop going to change gears.... but then the power is put back on and the whole thing repeats a few times xD

assists.... OFF! ahhh much better! just a bit slippy slidy :p can't believe they have automatic braking too.... /sigh.... almost as bad as dirt 3's throttle/brake/steering assists  :p where's the fun in that.....

maxxed out everything and got around 80fps.... meh... so trying to fiddle with some settings to get it to stick around the 120Hz (monitor refresh).

also I thought they brought the Green Hell (Nurburgring) to this game? was a bit disappointed to see only the small circuit track :( or maybe I read they were going to bring it out in time? or that they were developing it but calling it something else not to infringe on copyright or licensing or something? :p

The green hell is a dlc but there's a modded version of it out now that's amazing and probably not too far off from the official version. It's the only track I go on these days. Just search for snoopys version of it. Version 0.9.8 or something.

AC's official Ring will the DLC and available later in the year, on the other hand Snoopy has converted an existing version from another game and made a very good job by all accounts, not tried it myself.

First thing I did with AC was turn all aids off and run it in Pro mode or whatever they call it. However I don't mind if a car comes with ABS ;)

oh nice! so it has community support for tracks and such?! noice!! :D

have to get on this tonight :D

another quick Q as I'm lazy. multiplayer.... easy to do and can play 1v1 against friends.... or have like a practice session and friends can just join or anything?

oh yeah... ABS is I think the only one probably worth having on as it actually helps rather than hinder ;)

I'm by no means good at racing games but I'm alright.... but..... that racing line they give.... the colour banding on it..... why can't they be adaptive/realtime than just static for one car probably as I was driving the aero M3 and the braking points seemed to be way off and some suggesting to lift off but you can just keep flat out.

Nordshleife will be DLC but if you Google Snoopy's Nord's you can add it as a track to the game as it is. It's a fan made conversion of an rFactor version I think. It is very enjoyable though in its current state.

Edit

Too slow.

hehe :p

also gotta properly set up my wheel controls as I did some rushed buttons just to get on an play... didn't have my DFGT from the preselect list :( booo!!! gotta work out some good FFB settings too. (also found out I had to invert my pedal controls too.... by pressing the brake it released it and the car would go shooting forwards as no gas = all gas xD )

Sasso there is no coloured racing line if you turn all the aids off ;)

Multiplayer is easy to setup, it's all included in the Steam App folder. You will however have to open up some ports on your router to host.

Bit of advertising here but over at simracing.org.uk we're running weekly fun races on our rented server. We've got be one of the oldest online racing leagues as we descended from UKGPL when the original GTR game came out. Still have weekly events for GTR2/PnG and GTL plus the AC stuff we're dabbling with. All safe and considerate drivers welcome ;)

hehe yeah I know I know.... racing lines for n00bs! when jumping on a new track (at least in iracing) I found it hand to do some practice laps with the line on. get an idea of line and braking points then switch it off and do my own thing :)

and thanks for the info :) considerate...yes...safe......debatable :p just need to get used to it then I'd be up for some races :)

am I the only one that gets very little "feel" on the wheel for like 15deg each side ? after that it feels heavy but - 15 deg left - middle - 15 deg right feels very light?!
