and after

Does it matter where you install the update program before applying the fix? I have 2 840 Evo's and a Seagate 1Tb mechanical - can I install it on any one of those?

I can't seem to find anything in the PDF document.

Cheers!

might depend on how full your drive is,and also might benefit from a secure erase again

here's mine but it was above 400mb just after I flashed the fw

compare the above with the below screenshot before fw update but freshly secure erased

its improved the minimums a lot

@ the captain no it doesn't matter

Stupidly I didn't take any screenshots of my 'before' access times on my 2 drives using HDTune, but on one it was as low as 6Mb/s constantly

I ran the restoration and now on both they look absolutely fine, in line with all the numbers that everyone else has posted.

Thank you very much :)

Cant get it to run on AMD chipset (3rd party storage driver detected).
I uninstalled the SATA driver as per the instructions. but windows re-installs it.
So.... any help.

try booting in safe mode and see if it will update? don't know any other way apart from updating it while booting from another hdd/os

Wow it must have been slowing my system down more than I thought - took about 1 hour 15 minutes to run the restoration and there was an immediate and very noticeable increase in how snappy programs were especially on starting up and doing anything with windows explorer plus the test file I was monitoring is back to normal speeds and no read errors so far on multiple tries.

Out of interest I tested my Samsung 830 256GB drive which don't have the Bug. As you can see it's pretty impressive.

Any idea why my 250GB EVO is still only achieving on average 350MB/sec? I've just done a secure erase, restored an acronis image back, and it's still no better?

Most of the 250GB drives post in the past few pages are happily sat at 430-450MB/sec

I did a secure erase with mine and re-installed Windows from scratch. Then I ran the patch.

I'd be interested in this too, as my average after applying the fix is 379 and I see plenty the other side of 400
