ASUS Eee Pad Transformer 2

Is this likely to be much of a noticeable upgrade over the first Transformer? I can maybe sell the TF101 for £150-200, so that's maybe a £250 upgrade cost?

If it can seamlessly play 720p though that's pretty good as the TF101 isn't quite capable of doing it without lag issues. Otherwise though I don't play games on it and visually it looks almost identical? hmm decisions decisions :p

It should just feel much much smoother/fluid.

Whether the cost is justifiable to some is a difficult question.

Personally i found the tegra 2 tablets horrible (but i sold my galaxy tab 10.1 before 3.1 came out which apparently fixed a lot of the issues) but want this one !!

I just hope its as good as the hype suggests!

It would really need to imo! :(

My Tegra 2 Galaxy 10.1 felt choppy as hell compared to my Galaxy S2 on even simple tasks and going through the UI. While i'm really not into apple products even the Ipad 1 feels flawlessly smooth.

For me the Galaxy 10.1 was the biggest disappointment since i spent 5 weeks paper-round money on Fifa 93

:p

I think it's largely the OS, I had a TF101 for a few days, and the slight lag annoyed me.. I ended up with a cheap Advent Vega (Tegra 2), running Gingerbread with Launcher Pro, it's lightening fast, zero lag, very smooth and impressive..

I'm hoping the new TF Prime with 4 cores is more then up to the job.. the video shown is at least showing smooth transitions in the App drawer on ICS..

I know what you mean about iPad's, but it's mostly gloss and veneer, it's still very laggy, you just get instant animations that mask it all, which makes it feel smooth, something I wish Android would have embraced years ago..

I've had a Transformer and Galaxy Tab 10.1, both not laggy at all. My only real issue with Honeycomb devices has been that the stock Browser crashes every now and then, others don't seem to.

Did you ever try the Galaxy tab 10.1 on android 3.0 when it first came out btw?

Not the Galaxy Tab, no. Had the Transformer on 3.0 which was ok.

Not arguing, just saying I haven't had any issues. If reports are to be believed Ice cream sandwich should be even quicker.

No no i wasn't trying to pick an argument either :) I actually saw a youtube comparison last week of the original transformer on 3.1 vs the galaxy tab on 3.0.

I'm wondering if 3.0 gave me a really really unfair opinion of the samsung galaxy tab 10.1. I'd sent it back before i knew 3.1 would make any difference tbh.

:) not the best explanation, granted...

I mean that for example, my overclocked Vega is noticeably quicker then the Mrs' iPad2 for rendering webpages and opening many apps, but the occasional abrupt animations as it opens/renders make it feel choppy, the ipad, however feels better because despite being a little slower its all nicely animating as its sorting itself out!

Android is slowly getting there, its getting more polished in this regard, but still has a little way to go.... I hope ICS and 4 cores pulls off a.seemless and smooth experience.

Ugh, more and more I feel like I want to wait a little longer to see what is around the corner with these other quad cores due, 1080p tablets etc... I guess it all depends on price and Tegra exclusives. If Tegra show me some nice exclusive titles early on and the price is OK then I'll probably go for it and if there is something epic around the corner will just sell up and change.

Been doing as much research into tablet's as I can, as I'd hope to get value for money on a higher spec.

I'm looking for a tablet that will allow me to:

1)Watch TV shows and Films.
2)Sky Go (When it becomes available), so I can watch both the F1 live stream on my TV and the on-board interactive services on the tablet, or football and F1 should they clash.
3)Comic Viewing
4)Internet Browsing
5)General use, Fun Games, etc

How do people feel, based on the previous Asus Transformer, that this will perform to these tasks?
