Asus MW221U 22" Ghosting in games.

I'd keep your cables and manuals and stuff if they aren't swapping it directly :)

I will be trolling this forum for news on how the replacement panels works out :)

I dont know if they are swapping it or not with it going to Asus instead of the repair company CRC.

Hey guys could you do me a big favour?

As soon as you get your replacement screens can you run the Ghosting test again to confirm it is fixed?

I have a feeling it may be the first thing we will do ;)

Looks like you are all saying that the Asus is the one to avoid :(

All will be revealed when I get the monitor back. I know id rather have a working Asus than the the other models as they all look ugly IMO.

Maybe they will fix the negative ghosting while overdrive is enabled on my monitor :o *fingers crossed*

p.s Doesn't the samsung costs more ? And doesn't look as good imo.

I just wondered why so many people have been raising RMA's directly with Asus and having their monitors go back for repair rather than getting them swapped or replaced with OC'ers if they are DOA.

Can someone please enlighten me on this?
Thanks.

Because everyone is having the same problem so if we swapped we would get another one exacly the same.

i couldnt wait until I got home so I hooked the monitor up at work. I need to check my serial Number but I think I may have a new monitor as I got all the cables and CD's even though i didnt send them back.

I tried the Avi and its exactly the same except the ghosting is now behind rather than in front :(

I turned off overdrive and it looks fine. I need to try it at home with some games later.

Yes sorry, good point, as it seems to be a firmware issue the chances are the stock they had will have the same firmware build.
This is a curious fault though, I've run the avi file posted here on two of these Asus monitors and not seem the reported problem.

Maybe those 2 had the overdrive turned off, have a look, if you hold down the menu button for a few seconds you can change the setting then try the Avi again. Let us know how you get on.

Exactly, we paid £50 more than other monitors because it had 2ms latency (i.e with overdrive on)

If its fine in games with it off then im happy, i just wondreed if there was some aorund which had no ghosting with overdrive on.

You may need Fraps to run it.

Yes. I turned my monitor off with the overdrive disabled and when I turned it back on overdrive was enabled and the ghosting had returned. When I entered the overdrive menu the white bar was on NO and I had to move it to YES and then back to NO before the overdrive (and the ghosting) was disabled.

Gonna be a PITA if I have to do this everytime.

Mine is exactly the same, everytime i turn off overdrive switches on again. :(

Im sure some people here said theres defaulted to being off as they saw the Avi file fine

Im going to tell Asus that its still the same for what good it will do. Games are fine with overdrive off but with it defaulting to on every time is a PITY as you say.

I wonder if they were fooled by the fact that NO is hilighted in the menu and so they assumed overdrive was disabled.

Let us know was ASUS has to say.

Will do, as well as asking them why they sent the monitor back after a week with exactly the same problem I also mentioned the discovery of the overdrive menu, asked why it wasnt mentioned in the user manual and mentioned it resets to on everytime the panel is switched off.

I told them I was thinking about returning as it isnt working as spec and mentioned this problem is putting a lot of people off buying it.

Shay, if you could run the Avi file looped then keep switching between the ovedrive modes just to see if the ghosting appears on and off like all ours.

p.s I keep missing you on msn by seconds.
