Asus P5Q-E (P45) Motherboard Review

Express gate thats the hard drive setup ports isn't it ?? if so that looked quite cool and also the linux 5 second boot thing as well if i could have them on me ds5 i would be in mobo heaven :D. Apart from the sata ports thing all going well i hope Cob :).

Ah would still like something like that on the giga though. Drive expert is the two port drive setup thing i am getting old memory goes walkies now and then :D.

It'll be handy in emergencies, but I've disabled it anyway.

Just waiting for the latest ASUS AI Suite to (slowly) finish downloading so I can post an awesome stock chipset voltage screenshot. The latest Everest can't read the chipset voltages, so the crappy ASUS software it'll have to be for the meantime.

*edit*

Crap even it can't read the chipset voltages :/

Stock chipset voltages -

PLL - 1.50v
FSB Term - 1.20v
NB - 1.10v

No it's not game stable.

I'm just seeing how for the chip will go in this board. I could never get it into Windows above 485mhz before in my IP35 Pro or Maximus Formula X38, even with the chipset voltages through the roof.

I'm under water :)

Once again with the chipset voltages on their lowest settings (not Auto) -

I've never been able to run Super Pi over 4050mhz before with this chip.

That's the highest vcore I can run without switching jumpers on the motherboard.

There's two sets of jumpers. One changes the maximum vcore set in BIOS from 1.7v to 1.9v. The other changes the max NB voltage set in BIOS from 2.1v to 2.2v.

When you consider I haven't had to raise the NB voltage from its 1.1v default setting even at 500x8, you need to wonder what the heck will need 2.2v :/

Extreme clockers tend to, hence why they voltmod the p5k's to run over there max 1.9v nb voltage. for us its pretty useless.
Looking good Cob :) my p5k premium couldnt run super pi beyond 4.2GHz with my quad regardless of what voltage I ran.
This asus p5q dlx looks like a winner to me, a slight but noticeable improvement, one definitely worth having if you plan on building a new system :)

Very very impressed with this board so far, ive got the standard P5Q (not -E or deluxe) and its solid as a rock, quite lucky really as when the P35 chipset came out i dove in at the deep end getting one before they were mass tested, now the same with the P45 chipset and its excellent!

Havent managed to push mine to its boundries yet though...want to go home!!

I have the P5Q Deluxe though have not powered it up yet, am going to do a complete fresh install and get the system stable. What OC do you think I will get out of my Wolfdale E8500
