Hey 8pack, in regards to http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showthread.php?t=18561351 do you think waiting for this board is the right thing to do? I realy am stuck on the fence with which way to go.
If im honest, a lot of it also comes down to the mobo looks, of all current boards, the RIVE-BE just "looks" beastly, all the other options look a bit...naff realy, maybe not in person? I dunno, could I come upto OcUK HQ and unbox a whole bunch of boards to see how they look

I would go either Haswell Gigabyte OC or M6F if I was you. Two GPU Haswell is the best bet CPU wise. 8x x 8x Native low latency is more than enough.
Haswell is clock for clock 7% + on Ivy E. You could also go 4.6 OC bundle which gives you a good CPU. Most of these are doing around 4.8ghz and have strong IMC.
I have heard a low-latency 8x8x beats the 16x16x due to the extra latency it incurs.
I'll have to pop in a request to support, id be up for grabbing an oc-bundle, but want some stuff changed, like a nickel block (to match the gpu blocks) and some different ram as ill want to use the whole 32gb allowance on this board...
By the way on the OC bundles, are you de-lidding and applying some decent paste to the CPU?

I cant comment on chip mods for obvious reasons mate. Good silicon is good silicon with or without mods though anyone who says otherwise has not tested 100s of CPU. I have !!!

Speaking of which one final question, does it still hole true that ram speed still gives next to no real world difference in performance, and picking whatever "looks best" for aesthetics is fine?
(eg taking http://www.overclockers.co.uk/showproduct.php?prodid=MY-379-CS&groupid=701&catid=8&subcat=813 over say, 2400 offerings)

Haswell likes 2133+ It does make a difference on Haswell. Haswell likes bandwidth.
Well must say the pickings for high speed memory, in 8gb modules, in colors that would match the M6F are extremely thin!
