ASUS Rampage IV Black Edition: The Ultimate LGA2011 Motherboard

Heat gun and a bending rod to go internally to keep its shape.

A bit of practice and your there. Frustrating stuff though especially when fitting it all together

I think when i put my x99 together when it comes out ill try some acrylic. Nice to be different to the masses, looks great.

Appreciate that Cosimo :)

The writes are a bit better than I thought and overall not too bad. Still not sure which SSD to buy!

In general a SSD in a ASM port sees a 28% drop in performance compared to Intel controller....

Intel/ASM - MB/s
Seq Read - 468.3/368.7 (-21.26%)
Seq Write - 457.0/378.3 (-17.22%)
512K Read- 352.3/279.3 (-20.72%)
512K Write - 465.9/365.9 (-21.46%)
4K Read - 31.52/26.53 (-15.83%)
4K Write - 131.7/55.39 (-57.94%)
4K QD32 Read - 359.8/261.6 (-27.29%)
4K QD32 Write - 341.9/195.5 (-42.81%)

I've just done what you were thinking of doing, took out a WD 1TB black that was doing my general storage and replaced with a 1TB EVO. Yes the ASM ports are slower than the Intel ones BUT it still loads faster than the WD and oh my lord the silence is soooooooo nice :)

I have 250GB 840 Pro's in the two Intel ports, an old 250GB 830 in one ASM and the 1TB Evo in another so finally no mechanical drives.

Did I mention how quiet it is now with the rest of the rig on water :)

are you 100% sure ??
because in product description it says oc key , with is standard for classic r4e boards no with r4e black ones

Yes it comes with it and mine is still in the box.

8 Pack i have a couple of questions for you as i dont know who else to ask.

1. I have just bought a 4930k batch number 3325A911, is this anygood?

2.Will the waterblock VRM/MOSFET on the Rampage 2 extreme also fit the Rampage 4 extreme?

Thankyou.

Please can someone explain to me like I'm 5, regarding the following query.

In the last week I've put together my dream machine.

Running a 4930k (B.No 3332B048), 16GB (4x4 single set) 1866mhz Dominator Plat RAM, Asus RIVBE, 2x250GB Evo SSD's and a 780ti GHZ edition card, all housed within a grey Carbide 540 Air.

It's wonderful but, I'm struggling to understand the exact concept of what I need to be 'tightly adjusting' when OC'in the 4930k.

This is what I've tried so far:

4.5ghz CPU, 1.4Vcore, 1333mhz (stock) - Runs no sweat
4.4ghz CPU, 1.4Vcore, 1866mhz (XMP) - Runs no sweat

4.5ghz CPU, 1.4Vcore, 1866mhz (XMP) - Won't boot.

Am I reaching the M.E.P now? Maybe I was being a bit 'with this board I'd easily get 4.8ghz etc', is this the norm or have I got a chip that's performance is slightly lacking?

4.4ghz is perfectly fine! However I just wanted to make sure that I'm getting the best I can out of my system.

Any help would be appreciated
