Asus ROG PG32UCDM - 4k OLED 240hz

Quite confused, what would be better this or FO32U2P? I am about to upgrade to new PC with 5090 but been out of the loop for so long

I’ve got the AW3225QF and have it connected to my PC with the supplied HDMI cable, no problems. I recently bought a Mac Mini and initially connected it to the second HDMI port on the monitor.

The only problem I had was at 3008x1692 resolution on the Mac Mini it didn’t like the 240 Hz setting had to run it at 120 Hz. Then I bought a USB-C to DisplayPort cable and now it runs at 240 Hz at 3008x1692.

HDMI 2.1 cable did run fine 240 Hz at 3840x2160 but everything looks to small at that setting. So for me DisplayPort was a bit better.
Isnt it only display port 1.4 on the alienware? It cant run 4k 240hz without DSV but hdmi 2.1 should be able to

Has anyone had a go at using the 24.5 or 27” modes on this monitor ?

Not something I thought of ever using before buying the monitor, But now am thinking I want to give a go over the weekend to see what it like.

Thought about this after watching this YouTube video last night

You should be able do this using Nvidia control panel in the scaling settings. Just lower the resolution and turn off the ‘stretch to fit screen’ or whatever it’s called.

No! Definitely looks like something I need to try though as I can't hit anyone in Warzone :D

Yeah but like I said in my post had better results with DisplayPort connection.
Another thing I noticed was the variable refresh rate options were different when connected via HDMI or DisplayPort, here's HDMI...

Here's DisplayPort...

Can set it to Variable (48-240 Hertz) over DisplayPort but only (48-120 Hertz) over HDMI.

Strange that the nvidia website lists the Alienware VRR as 40-240Hz

It different to that as that just displaying dot by dot
Where with this option you can use different resolutions at the 24.5 & 27" sizes

Just booted my Windows 11 machine which is connected to the monitor with a HDMI 2.1 cable, it does say supported Variable refresh rate (48 Hz - 240 Hz)

It also says Variable refresh rate is On...

This Variable refresh rate discrepancy between HDMI and DisplayPort seems to be a macOS issue.

As others have said, you don't necessarily need to use the monitor setting to do this. If you're on AMD you can just set a custom resolution in Adrenalin and I think you can do the same in Nvidia's control panel (can't remember from memory and it's been 2 years since I sold my 3070).

I have the LG 32" 4k 240hz monitor and I tend to swap between the equivalent of a 27" and 24" mode on it depending on if I'm finding 32" too large for certain games. The only annoyance with the custom resolution is not playing nicely with OBS at all which I use for recording clips etc. but I do find that I play most FPS games at 27" cropped (3288 x 1850) on my 32" monitor - and with it being OLED the outer frame is completely black which helps a lot.

Have I been using color settings wrong ?

I've had my c9 set to 10 bit color in Nvidia control panel for 6 years even when playing sdr content
