I also contacted Asus regarding cooler removal, their official response for OcUK returns:
So if customer ask, we need to give a clear answer => we do not suggest to do so, but if they do, than OK (unless damage is caused by replaced cooler or damage happens during removal / installation of a cooler).

@Gibbo this is why I bought the Strix ASUS, gives me peace of mind , no need for modding the card or VRM's when you have this excellent warranty !!! - I helped sell one of the cards infact . Thanks again, my card was having coil whine but it seems to have no disappeared
how is buying second hand affected? what is required? screen shot of original order enough?
