Even if he does have info from someone working for an AIB or similiar from my experience the ones breaking NDAs aren't always the most trust worthy sources.

Quite an exciting run up to card launch! If amd can pull off the kind of perfomance increase numbers being banded about then kudos to them.

What next for nvidia? A bloody long wait for kepler thats what.
 
Well, if the 6970 is £360-400 like Gibbo says, and Raven's source is correct, then I'll have one please! :D

Be interesting to see what happens to the price of the 580 if that does happen.

This info you were sent via email was it just one game/program benchmarked or was it several. did it also include the specs of the system used...?
 
Don't know system specs but I would assume it would be an i7/i5 CPU. Benchmarks were..

Heaven 2.1
Crysis warhead frost flythrough and airfield flythrough
3Dmark Vantage
Dirt 2
Justcause 2 concrete jungle bench
 
People that claim the 6970 is going to be 30% quicker then a 580 are dreaming plain and simple.
 
Why are so many people saying " I doubt it. " ?

I do not have a clue so i can not answer this myself so the people that said I DOUBT IT not long now :p
 
Come on Guys,

Unless AMD are Achieving this supposed performance increase in their sleep, is it really in their best interests to dump a card on the market that is purported to be so superior to the competition.

Firstly, they can't charge anymore for it and secondly, if the 6970 is "this" good, anything they produce on 28nm will have to be "THIS" good to sell.

I've always thought that in general, we are drip fed technology, just enough to keep us interested enough to part with our money.

Are Graphic Cards different??

If you treat Radeon 6800s as a performance replacement for Radeon 5700s, I don't see how 6900s can be worse than GTX580 tbh.

I think vorticalspace meant, they should release it with only a little more performance, than the supposed "30%" gains. That way, they have more headroom to make their next generation seem so 'wow'.
