** ATi X1k/HD 3k series overclocking guide - ATi Tray Tools and ATi Tool + FAQ **

Any tried bios editing the x1't series yet? im wary of testing it as i have no means to back ie a pci gfx card

Ok, so this is kind of a continuation of the x1800xt thread I posted a while ago...towards the end of it, Dome suggested using RaBit to edit the bios to save the clock and voltage settings so that you wouldn't have to manually set the clocks each time.

There are no tools to mod 1800 bios image files and it is unlikely there will be. ATI now digitally signs the bios. If you edit it the signature goes "poof" and the card will not run anything using DirectX/3D after that.

If u dont have the means to fix a bad flash id leave it well alone m8 :) flashed mine 5-6 times now with 0 probs but i know i can fix it in a min if it did go wrong.

As for

Ive not read that anywhere before and cant say that i read fireingsquads forum :) rabit states its for editing the x1800 & 1900 series cards and why would ati make the x1800's like that and not the x1900  ?

*edit*
U can flash the x1800's with no prob, theres a lot of info over at rage3d and techpower ;)

I have the means just not the luck, i have flashed my card to a pe now and then
but id prefer just more volts, yet editing the pe bios to lower the clock just a little it shows the core/mem clocks much lower than they really are.

670/790 , 1.475 volts would be shweet :D

Hey Concorde Rules, thanks for the guide, but i've a question, did the exact same thing as u wrote and did a 2D and 3D profile, but seems like after sometime of usage, the profile will change to one of my profile that is set to the default clock speed of the card, 500/594..

How can i solve this?

Certain videos and games, even with the ATi services disabled cause clock changes.

If you have a low power 2D like we have the it will ramp it up to stock 2D when you open/play a game/video. Same with 3D clocks, you have to alt-tab out and reset the clocks.

CR.

oh okie, hmm but is it okie for the card to keep having the clock changed? will there be any effects to the card?

hmm also when sometimes after the speed went to default 500, i set it back to the 2D profile, and the system appears black screen..
What could be wrong?

Black screen or corruption = not enough volts for that clock speed.

And no, there won't be any damage changing clocks.

how about for mem voltage?

btw you mentioned that " Same with 3D clocks, you have to alt-tab out and reset the clocks." what do you mean by this?

hmm was playing bf2 just now with 621/725 and after i ended the game, i found that the clock was set back to 500/594, is this what you are talking about?

Whats the reason of it going back to the default speed? so i cant game throughout with the overclocked speed?

When a game or video starts the ATI drivers FORCE the clock change, even with the services disabled, the ATT programmer is working on a way to avoid this.

All you have to do is alt-tab back out once at the main screen in BF2 and load the correct clocks.

CR.

Edit: Mem voltage, 1.9-2.2V Is safe on air, stock is 2.089V :)

oh, so its not setting the clock before i enter the game, but to set it after i enter the game, is that right? Will give it a try later on.. Thanks =)

Ok here goes:

Your 2D clocks --> Game starts --> ATT sets your 3D clocks --> ATi drivers set stock 2D clocks --> game continues at stock 2D until software/you change them again.

:)

Hmm after i start the game, my ATT will auto set to 3D clocks which is 500/594? then after that, the drivers will set back to the 2D?? 402/477???

Sorry for the noobs questions, just switched from nvidia to ati..
