Sapphire X1900XT - 760/820

After only ever running Nvidia cards I'm impressed with how these things can be tweaked. Voltage adjustments via software!! Who would have thought :)

Dont think I'll even plug the 7900GTX in now.

Nice clocks!

That on air? :o

Sapphire x1900xtx @ 779/859 on water

34c idle / 49c load

vgpu @ 1.575 v

mvddc @ 2.151 v

mvddq @ 2.102 v

vddci @ 1.486 v

seen the temp of the volt regulator go up to 105c load  with out a fan

stuck a PowerColor Heat Buster under the card and that has brought the temp down to around 80c load and 32c idle

Yep, it's an xtx, bought at £300 brand new.

Think it's at it's limits on air now though but i'll never go the water cooled route.

If you're having trouble with your vreg temps, then there's an easy mod you can do with some cable ties and a standard AMD fan.

This is what I have on mine and it works with all coolers.

Mine are running at 689/797, set through the overdrive panel in CCC. 30'C idle, 36'C at load! They're both under Swiftech MCW60 water blocks and using ram sinks as well.

I could get close to that on air, but the heat was phenomenal... upper 90's!

Is anyone else finding that with their cards overclocked to the max their 3DMark score decreases after immediate back to back runs?

Can someone test this for me?

My cards clocked to 760/850 but it looses about 100 points after every run.

E.g. 13280 - 13198 - 13114 - 13050, etc

It seems however that if I exit 3DMark and come back into it the score doesnt change.

I'm struggling to understand why this would be happening.

Watercooled GPU, OCZ RAMsink and a 92mm fan blowing across the Power Regulators.

Any ideas appreciated.

Just thought I'd update this with some observations regarding vreg temps.

I resat the waterblock on my card today as I had to replace a ramsink. Anyway, when I got the card back in I went into ATI tool to scan for artifacts on an already proven stable overclock just to check temps.

After 20 seconds or so I was getting artifacts and noticed that the vregs were at 72C. I realised then that I had forgotten to plug in the fan that I have mounted in front of the vregs. After plugging it in They never went over 60C and the card tested fine at the same speeds.

Anyone else find their vreg temps have such a bearing on stability?

Yes definitely, i've done a similar mod to you with a fan pointing towards the vreg. My card is overclocked and if i don't keep the vreg cool 3dmark or games will lock up.

Mines at 62C  Better get a fan on it ASAP!!

Also my new form of testing is 5 mins artifact testing, then raise clock speed.

Time consuming it is :(

Edit: 57C :D

I tested a bit more and it seems the vreg temps only have a large impact if you're overclocking.

At stock (650/775) without the vreg fan it will sit at 80c under load without causing errors, however when oveclocked high temps (60c+ say) will cause instability. With the fan on my vreg is around 55c under load whilst overclocked.

What VDDCI Voltage are you guys using?

Im still at the stock 1.487V and I cant pass more than 805mhz on mem :(

Conc

Edit: 1.5V on VDDCI and I have 810mhz @ 2.130V!!!

666/1622 lol
