Audi owners in here!

Just a quick question for Audi owners. Looking at BMW's/Audi's to buy in the next few months and the A5 Coupe has caught my eye. One of the things attracting me to BMW is their warranty. How do the Audi options compare, price and service wise? And are there limits like with BMW such as sub 60k miles for best rates etc

Thank you.

Had a great experience with Audi in Brighton today... After buying an 06 A3 2.0T, admittedly I hadn't looked up the common faults with them before buying which was a bit silly, and sods law that I hadn't got round to sorting breakdown cover.... I was just pulling away from a roundabout and the car started to misfire.

Long story short, quick call to AA to get a guy to come out and get covered. During the wait I did some researched and learned of the coil pack recall which hadn't been done on my car. Within the space of a phone call, Brighton Audi had ordered in a new coil pack, booked me in for this afternoon to be fixed (broke down at midday), and after being towed to them, I was fixed and away by 3 with a new set of coils and a bottle of champagne!

Took my A1 in for a service this week, just coming up to three years and 26,000 miles. It needed an adaption drive for the S-tronic box as well as 2 replacement headlight units (due to slight clouding on the interior). All under warranty, thank goodness.

Time to look at a replacement in the next year or so. I like the new A3, having driven a couple now.

Bought myself some of these (TTRS calipers), just need to buy the disc's. Even though they should fit under my stock 18 inch wheels they don't at points so my wheels now need replacing too!

Nice Xez.

I want some big brakes but it means new alloys as I have BE rotors

I keep trying to use the desire for a BBK as an excuse to buy some Team Dynamics Pro Race 1.2 and michelin super sports :D

Which alloys do you have, standard 18" S3? If so I thought they fit under those - is it the weights on the wheels causing you an issue?

Yeah I have the standard 18" wheels, they require spacers which I already have. The wheel weights do hit but it seems my wheels are bent and the top of the calipers scrapes on the inner wheel at points.

I just need to choose between Speedlines Turini for it's weight or BBS CH for the looks. I'd like them fitted before my next track day as the standard s3 brakes look big but the pads are tiny and they faded badly for me on my last track day.

£27k doesnt seem crazy cheap for a 3 year old TT. The fact it was comedy priced new doesn't really mean much other than that the market felt it wasn't worth its new price perhaps?

Coming up to 22 months of ownership of the A4 and the start of this thread! In those 22 months I have had to replace:

4 Tyres
1 Rear Spring
Flywheel

Still enjoy the car, it drives very well and still solid with no rattles! Averaging 46.6mpg on the computer.

Would I like a new car...yes! However with the birth of my little baby daughter at the beginning of March I am going to keep for at least another 2 years and spend my money on enjoying time with the family!

Booked in for MOT Thursday so will see what work needs to be done, however in the coming months I need to replace:

Oil Change
Disk & Pads all round
Front Windscreen - quite scratched and chipped from the years and a bit of a nightmare in sun.
Wheels need refurbishing
Good Wash & Machine Polish

Car passed MOT, needed front disks and pads but £130 all in not bad for another year of motoring!

Hey guys, I've just rec'd a cheque in the post for $1815, for re-imbursment for a replaced TCM (Transmission Control Unit) on my old 2004 A4 B6 Cabrio. Which I sold 4 yrs ago !! :D

I bought the car in 2007 and sold it in 2010. It only had 9k on the clock when i bought it, however at at 35k, it started developing a weird problem. Took it into Audi who told me it was now out of warranty, and it needed a replacement TCM unit for its CVT transmission. So paid it, did some research which led me to those transmissions in the B6 CVT's were problematic.. Not wanting to take any risk, i ended up selling the car, and bought a new car with warranty instead. Then 3 yrs later, i rec'd a letter about a settlement against Audi, and their records showed that I was on record as having my CVT repaired.. I had to fill out some paperwork, get proof that i owned the car previously, (since i'd given all the paperwork to the new owner) low and behold a check arrived yesterday in the mail for the full reimbursed amount !!! COOL !

Thought I'd share, if any of you have CVT problems, in the USA they'll warranty for 10 yrs 100,000miles. Don't know if they'll do the same for UK / EU owners, but if it were me, and i had that problem, I'd be calling Audi and doing my utmost to get something back...

USA Audi did the same with the RS6/RS4 DRC suspension failures and refunded everyone who had to replace theirs. UK Audi did nothing.

The different litigation cultures and laws in the US vs UK allows UK Audi to do this so you can't blame them for not wanting to incur huge costs if there's no legal reason to force them to sadly.
