you guys see the BBC Watchdog show with the piece on Audi lying about NCAP testing of their cars
so I'll try and sum it up.
-Guy bought an R8 and prior to purchase was told it was NCAP tested and had 5 stars.
-Car involved in crash and (i think) written off)
-Does some searching about NCAP on the R8 .....can't find any?
-Phones up Audi dealers/head office to ask about this, everyone comes back saying they are all NCAP tested and passed with 5 stars. to quote a guy "we only sell cars that are 5* NCAP"
-Speaks to NCAP and Audi are talking out their arses
-4 of the cars in the range (a5, r8 that I remember) are being sold and boasted as 5* NCAP when asked.....but in reality they haven't had anything to do with NCAP.
Thoughts on this? I think it was said that because on some models e.g.a5, it is "close" to the A4 with similar/same safety features so is just assumed by Audi to be of equal standard.
Personally I think it's pretty bad for such a big company to lie out right to its customers/potential customers. I can kinda get where they are coming from but unless you actually test the car then you'll never know for sure right?
Ah well.... won't effect me with my looking for the older a4/s4 anywho
(still hunting
)
It's up on iPlayer and is the first article on the program.
Was another interesting article about a "secure" pickup/dropoff valet parking services for air port travelers. They say they'll meet you at the airport, take you car to their secure complex and then meet you back when you return to the airport. Turns out that Some cars had been damaged/driven irresponsibly which they deny, a car was stolen from their "complex" and the customer was told it's their problem as they don't cover theft....
(from their own complex... lol) also there is doubt whether the "secure complex" even exists as many of cars in their care were found parked up in regular carparks, road side, by community centers, with parking tickets or wheel clamped!!!!!!!! Absolute cowboys!!!!
